Description
Pécsi Brewery is an independent brewery with a history of 170 years of uninterrupted operation. The factory meets the highest quality standards (IFS), uses its own karst water source, and has a stable access to regional supply of ingredients. The owners have decided in 2017 to limit the annual beer production to a maximum of 200.000 hectoliter per year. Its home, the lively city of Pécs is located on the southern slopes of the Mecsek mountains in a mild climatic almost mediterranean corner of Hungary.
While our Pécsi and Szalon lagers are among Hungary’s most popular beers, the company has successfully started to market top fermented beers such as Weissbier, Pale Ale and APA. Our brewing is pursued according to the German Beer Purity Law in order to create the purest beer possible. The commitment to environmental sustainability and the preservation of biodiversity motivated our team to launch our successful organic product series in 2019.

Oh yay, another Pécsi supermarket lager. Courtesy of ogivlado who brought it from Budapest (thanks!) Poured a pale yellow body with a medium sized white head. Light carbonation. Odd gluey soft nose, more wheaty than it has any right to be. Inoffensive grainty watery taste, extremely light hop. Whoa, Pécsi actually made a drinkable, albeit extremely watery 3% lager. Rejoice!

500ml Can (Thanks Doggythedog) - Golden in colour. Grainy aroma with grass and hay. The taste has notes of corn and malt. Rather boring.

Canned 500ml. -found somewhere in Budapest. Pale golden coloured, small white head, low carbonation, salty grainy nose. Sweet malty (but weak malty), slight herbal and grassy taste with peppery notes in the finish. Drinkable and above average Hungarian lager.

Lindenhof was added to the site on 26.10.2006. I get to be the first one to rate it. Great. Thanks to ogivlado for the tip on where to find it (he saw it in the window of the CBA Prima that’s on the corner of either Városház and Plivak or Városház and Pariszi streets but the store was closed that day), I REALLY hope I manage to get another can on my way back for him! Poured a pale yellow body with a medium-big thick white head that went away fast. Fizzy. The nose was actually more complex than I expected. Dust, vegetabley hopiness, malt. Ok for a Pécsi supermarket lager. The taste, however... oh the taste. Mineral water. That’s it. Prickly carbonation and not much else. Yaaaaaaaaay!

Canned 500ml. -found somewhere in Budapest. Pale golden coloured, medium sized white head that went away slowly, acidic wet corn nose. Water, caramel and some herbs without anything else. Tasteless crap. VIVA Pécsi Sörfözde!!!

0.5l can courtesy of and shared with ogivlado who brought it from Budapest (thanks!) Poured a golden body with a small white head that went away fast. Light grainy nose, slightly odd, almost typical Pécsi. Sweet, sweaty malty taste, light, not much to it, some light, and unobtrusive vegetabley notes, maybe fruitiness (apple). Yeah, markedly better than most Pécsi beers but sorry folks, this isn’t all that good either.

0.5l can brought from Budapest by ogivlado and shared with me (thanks!) Poured a pale dull golden body witha big thick white head. Dry grainy nose with ugly notes of sewage. Very light notes of propolis and sulphur. Dry watery lack of taste. Nothing. Extremely light bitterness maybe. Oh shit, just when I thought that Hungarian supermarket beers can’t go any lower... I mean, who’s the target audience for this. Hobos living in Budapest sewers wanting a bit more of what they are used to?

Canned(500ml). -Once again tasteless Hungarian 3.0% cheap lager. Completely identical as his "watery brothers" meaning slight bready and corn taste with short bitterish finish. Have I forgot to tell about water...

4/7 0.5 l can Doggythedog brought from Budapest, thanks for sharing! It poured a golden body with medium sized and short living head. Some lower quality hops in aroma, sourish corn notes. Flavor is a bit sweetish, with corn sourness, and some strange dustness. A bit soapy as well. Should I call that complexity? Dry, medium long finish, a bit soapy as well. Well, this is nothing too bad, but had better pale lagers. But the problem is when you had 2 NAs objectively better than 3 ordinary beers the same night :P Gimme something else!
