Description
Põhjala Brewery is the brainchild of three friends and beer aficionados who, like many a future craft brewer, got tired of the tasteless watery lagers that the faceless megacorporations have saturated the beer market with.
We brew small batches of hand crafted ales, using the best malts, loads of mostly New World hops and a relentless passion for good beer. When creating our beers, we are inspired by Nordic nature, Estonian new cuisine and the work of our fellow microbrewers in the U.S., UK and Scandinavia who, in our opinion, are leading the craft beer revolution.
In hops we trust!

(Keg at Gallow’s Bird, 20140830) The beer poured deep amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, pine, creamy toffee and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, sweetness, malts, booze, creamy toffee and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, sweet and bitter. A strong flavoured and boozy brew. Not really my style.

Draught @ Gallows Bird, Espoo Pours dark orange with a smooth headö. Aroma of sweet fruits, syrup, caramely malts and berries. Taste is heavy, bitter and caramely with berries and sweet syrup. Finish is lingering bitter, sweet and syrupy with notes of caramel and berries. Quite heavy, almost feels like a barley wine. 7-4-7-3-14 Re-rated on 11.6.2016. Feels like a completely different beer. Loads of fruity hops, juicy tropical notes and citrus. Pretty tasty.

Draught @ Gallows Bird, Espoo-päivä
Aroma has berries, caramel, toffee and some fruity hops. Flavour has gluey tones, fruits, berries, some caramel and hints of toffee. Finishes with acrid, herbal bitterness. A disappointment.

Draught @ Gallows Bird, Espoo Pours orange with a smooth head. Aroma of grassy hops, fruits, yeast and wheaty notes. Taste is hoppy, fruity and yeasty with some notes of wheat and grass. Finish is smooth, fruity and hoppy with some piney grass and wheaty notes. Pretty good hoppy wheat ale, but missing that extra fruity kick to make this excellent.
