Tap at Preserve in Winters, CA. Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma is lite smoke and chocolate. Med + body. Flavor is chocolate, smooth toasted/burnt malt and noticeable smoke. The flavors seem well integrated and it’s very tasty. Finishing towards dry. And bitter.

Bomber from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown with a slight tan head. Aroma is chocolate. Med + body. Flavor is dark treacle, chocolate, and some darkish fruit. It holds promise of plum, but it’s not a major component just now. I’m getting a little coffee in a less than dry finish, but strong dark chocolate may be confusing me. Powerfully flavorful.

Bottle. Blackish beer with a light brown head. Chocolate and yeast aroma with light roast. Chocolate and toffee flavor with dark fruit. Medium-plus bodied. Dark fruit ad dried fruit linger with light chocolate and light yeast. There’s a light backing harsh roast note that doesn’t go with the beer and takes a lot away from it.
