Description
Saku Õlletehas was established in 1820, when the owner of Saku manor, Karl Friedrich Rehbinder decided to set up a small brewery at his manor. Documentation has proven that the first brewing period at the Saku beer house took place in October 1820. By 1899, Saku Õlletehas had become the biggest brewery in North Estonia and had built its own railway line between Saku and Tallinn.

Throughout history, quality lager beer and Baltic porter have played a key role in the Saku beer portfolios. These beers have been exported all over the world, from the Russian Empire to the developed beer markets in Europe.

50cl bottle from Grossi, Avinurme. Pours clear golden with a white head. Green apples, wet grains and notes of cardboard and cooked vegetables. Medium sweet, rather watery and thankfully not very flavourful. Not pleasant at all.

56,8cl can from Maksimarket, Laagri. Pours clear golden with a white head. Grainy and malty with mild grassy notes and hints of boiled vegetables. Pretty standard industrial pale lager. Clean enough and not to sweet, but far from memorable.

Bottled 500ml (Tallinn)
Reddish colour, small steady beige head and lace. Strong artifical cherry aroma with touch of marzipan - cherry coke like. Medium-bodied. Sweetish cherryish flavour, only a bit of Tume left. Artifical but not totally undrinkable - base beer is good enough.

Can. Med-thin body, medium carbonation. Solid grainy husky astringency, which kinda ruins it. Med-light bitterness, low sweetness, quite dry. A bit hard to drink due to the astringency. Average macro.
