Description
Saku Õlletehas was established in 1820, when the owner of Saku manor, Karl Friedrich Rehbinder decided to set up a small brewery at his manor. Documentation has proven that the first brewing period at the Saku beer house took place in October 1820. By 1899, Saku Õlletehas had become the biggest brewery in North Estonia and had built its own railway line between Saku and Tallinn.
Throughout history, quality lager beer and Baltic porter have played a key role in the Saku beer portfolios. These beers have been exported all over the world, from the Russian Empire to the developed beer markets in Europe.

Ruby colour, tiny head. Rye bread, sugary cherry in the nose. Light-bodied. Sweet sugary flavour with cherry and kvass rye bready notes. Quite watery finish. Kvass with soda pop character.

Golden colour, small white head. Nose has some sweetish corn and cardboardish hop extract aromas. Light-bodied. Fizzy. Despite of corn flavour is closer to Saku Originaal than Corona/Sol. Light, sweetish malty, very low on bitterness. You get what you expect. From Tallinn.

Bought from Tallinn. Dark golden colour, medium-sized white head and lace. Very metallic aroma with some kind of grain. Light-bodied. Malts, metal, hints of caramalt in the flavour. Very much macro pale lager vibes, closer to Saku Originaal than Czech pilsners.

Bought from Selver, TLN. Golden colour, steady white head. Papery aroma. Light-bodied. Fizzy, light, pale malts with sweetish corn flavours lurking. Not like Corona/Sol but slightly maltier "corn-infused" Saku. 568ml can.

500ml can from local East European shop. Clear very pale pink golden colour, bubbly foam head that quickly dissipates to a thin rim and aroma of tinned peach, vanilla, apple hint. Taste is sweet, peachy, apple, some vanilla, and sugary with light tartness. Medium bodied, high carbonation, sweetish peachy finish. OK, abit sweet.

50cl can from Rimi, Tallinn. Pours clear, pale golden with a white head. Greiny aroma with hints of sweet, dried fruits, honey and hay. Smooth, grainy and far from refreshing. Fairly as expected.
