About
Saku Õlletehas was established in 1820, when the owner of Saku manor, Karl Friedrich Rehbinder decided to set up a small brewery at his manor. Documentation has proven that the first brewing period at the Saku beer house took place in October 1820. By 1899, Saku Õlletehas had become the biggest brewery in North Estonia and had built its own railway line between Saku and Tallinn.

Throughout history, quality lager beer and Baltic porter have played a key role in the Saku beer portfolios. These beers have been exported all over the world, from the Russian Empire to the developed beer markets in Europe.

50cl bottle from Maxima, Tallinn. Pours clear golden with a white head. Malty aroma with hints of grass, fruits and hints of sweet citrus. Moderate to medium sweet with low flavour intensity and ditto bitterness. Pretty standard industrial lager.

A dark brown beer, a head is medium and beige. Aroma has like chocolate candy, chocolate and orange, but not bad. Taste is rougher, chocolate, orange. Slightly artificial, but drinkable anyway.

Sample, thanks oh6gdx! Clear pinkish amber, lively head. Perfumy pomegranate aroma with some cooked vegetables, Very sweet with thin body and clean mouthfeel. Syrup and artificial sweetener with an even more artificial pomegranate-like flavouring. Artificial sweetner lingers in a metallic finish. Really cloying and tough to drink.

Sample, thanks oh6gdx! Clear yellow, small head. Perfumy nose with bubblegum and cactii. Artificially sweet with light body and sticky mouthfeel. Syrup, banana and cactii extract. Sticky finish with artificial sweetness. Makes Pepsi Max seem natural.
