Canned 2/12/25, purchased from the brewery 5/1/25 and drunk 5/2 and 5/18/25. Not a great sign that they are selling 2.5 month old IPAs here, but whatever.
It tastes and smells like it's old. More bitterness and acidity in nose and flavor than actual brighter hops notes. Citrus and very minor mango with crusty bread, cracker and hints of caramel. An older school of DIPA, but exacerbated by the age. Will enter the review but commit to getting a fresher sample soon (they just released a new batch last week).

12 oz. can in a trade with Clark, thank you. Aroma is mild grapefruit pith, mango skin, and candied orange. In the flavor of the malt backbone, thankfully isn’t too old school, but does show a little bit of caramel. Perhaps honey. Same fruit that you find in the aroma. Alcohol is hidden and it does drink pretty easily. This pretty much stands the test of time.

Brewery draught, 5/1/25.
Super bright, tangerine-maize. Small, white head.
Well, that smells exactly like a bag of weed, love it or hate it. Mission accomplished here.
The spice continues with peppery, dainty spice and tempered bitterness. Rich maltiness drying out nicely. Huge tea-like notes with light honey and gooey biscuit. It's about as close to marijuana as you can get in a beer, but it's done very well.

Brewery lukr draught, 5/1/25.
Clear, bright amber with a creamy, beige head, good retention.
Nice and easygoing, well-lagered nose with light toffee, light honey, lots of mineral and fresh, herbal hop. Fair bit of toast but it's integrated nicely with the base malt.
Initially quite toasty, pushing it. But it softens significantly as it warms. More toffee and honey with a lightly chewy texture with excellent herbal hoppiness. Clean and with great mineral and lager yeast character on the end. Not surprised but glad to see NEBCO also kills it on the lager game.

Brewery draught, 2024 BA variant, 5/1/25.
As pictured.
Well-done adjuncts. All pretty well-homogenized. Coconut and vanilla providing so much soft, rich, aromatic depth. The barrel-aging does seem to have done away with a lot of hop and the roast doesn't seem nearly as prevalent, either. No booze, sugar, overdone adjunct. Good bourbon spice. Not intense but well-done with no big toast/tannin.
Rich bourbon with spice throughout the sip. Vanilla is rich but not overdone. Coconut adds gentle fruitiness but it's all very tastefully-done. Having just had the base, this beer really transforms, so much for the better. No hop, low roast, still a chewy body without syrup or sugar or alcohol. Whoever is in charge of the barreling and blending here knows their shit, to say the least. This competes with today's 15% BA stouts in flavor intensity at a modest 9.5%. Absolutely love that.

2024 draught at the brewery, 5/1/25.
Clear, dark. Sizeable, light tan head, moderate-to-low retention.
Roasty with some PNW hops. Smells like 2005! But it's clean, polished, no alcohol, resin, sugar, etc...
Very nice texture: soft and chewy, not quite syrupy. Great .alt depth and attenuation with a lot of hop and a good deal of roast. Nice to see they've stayed true to the old school recipe, even if it is outdated. I'm sure it's great in a barrel. Respect.

Brewery draught, 5/1/25.
Gently hazy, brass-lemon-golden. Small, white head.
Nice and juicy with round, aromatic citrus. Clean and bright with white bread and honey-like malt notes.
Juicy and zesty, well-bittered with citrusy hops. Cracker malts and a lean but amply-malted finish. Lots of flavor and texture for its size. I appreciate the robust bitterness, too.
