Draught at the brewery, 6/4/16.
Light amber-golden body shows good clarity and a light beige head atop with fair retention.
Malt sugars and coffee beans in the nose are both soft and mild, with leafy, vegetal hops behind it, adding light citrus and just a pinch of pine. It all balances out shockingly well with hints of roast, vanilla and honey lingering on the finish. Light touch of orange marmalade, as well with no alcohol or flaws.
Succulent malts provide a soft, perfect backdrop to the citrusy (orange and lemon) hops which themselves provide only modest bitterness. Coffee flavor is mild but true, with low roast and bitterness. Just an all-around easygoing, very drinkable beer with low but ample carbonation and no alcohol or resin.

Can @ home. Opaque pitch black color, full sized thick and quite creamy dark brown head. Aroma is malts, liquorice, firm roast. Taste malts, roasted malts, dark malts, light liquorice, malt bitter, medium to firm bitter finish. Medium body, carbonation is a bit sharp sort of speak, but not annoying. Decent stout.

Growler. Pours opaque black, small brown head, dissipates pretty quickly, good lacing. Aroma is loaded with coffee, mocha, licorice, molasses, hint of ashtray. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter, rich and creamy espresso mocha. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. This is excellent. Kudos.

Can @ home. Hazy yellow to light orange color, medium sized white to off-white head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is lightly malts, lovely fruity, grapefruit, citrus, slightly lime. Taste lightly malts, fruityness, grapefruit, citrus, again slightly lime, moderately bitter. Nice fruit bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation. Not a typical Double IPA imo, but a quite pleasant hoppy beer.

Bottle [label says one of 2600 bottles, release date 2/2015] from trade @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized dark brown head that diminishes after a short while. Aroma is malts, soft roast, soft liquor influence initially, more after a short while, some alcohol. Taste malts, firm roast, again quite boozy, is this only 8.5% ABV? Tastes more boozy than 8.5% ABV, not very sweet like I would have expected but more whiskey liquor influences instead of sweetish bourbon. Quite sharp and bold sort of speak. Texture is thinner than I expected, not smooth oily bourbon, body is medium, carbonation is lightly fizzy. Nice, but not as good as I had hoped.
