(Bottle 65 cl) Pours a clear, reddish brown with tiny impurities. Small, off-white head. Vinous oak aroma. Solid body again with lots of oak, overripe fruit and caramel. Some sherry-like accents. Surprisingly subdued bitterness. 130806

Sampled at the RBSG ’06. Black colred body that thins out at the edges with a creamy head. Malt flavors and body are a bit thin in this one, which is disappointing. Needs depth and complexity to really shine.

Bottled March 2003. Pours deep amber into a tulip. Significant fluffy off-white head leaves lacing as it recedes. Lemon joy notes. Bubbly and fizzy. Upfront sweet caramel with a lasting alcohol burn. Lemon joy notes last throughout, but do not come through in the taste. Not a tripel. btw, I don’t use detergent on my glasses...

I just got this from Liquid Solutions with my FFTW order. Dec 2003 bottle! I will re-rate when I get a fresh one. Huge creamy tan head over a deep amber body. Malty rich aroma with the vestiges of a big piney presence. Now, this is very much like a Big Hoppy Monster, dark and malty with lots of hops that serve in a supporting, not dominant role. Still lots of hops, but the malt is coming through from the aging. Sweet, with a touch of spice. No longer hop heavy as it might have once been. Full and smooth bodied.

Many thanks to DarkElf for this bottle. Deep brown body with red highlights, medium ochre head. Aroma of prune, caramel, and toast, with chocolate and a heavy dose of toffee. Sweet toffee and breads dominate the flavor in addition to caramel and red grape. Tannic. A touch of bitterness around the edges. Good complexity, but a little sweet, reminding me a bit of Pannepot. Medium-full bodied, heavy. Long, sweet finish.

Pre-TAP gathering at Dickinsonbeer’s house, bottle provided by somebody(sorry, Got it, WillBlake, thanks). Poured into large mouth glass. Color is dark brown, murky, can’t see through the beer. Smell is complex, numerous aromas come out. Very malty, very bready, and alcohol present. The taste is great, smooth, no bitteress. Again bready and malty, some chocolate, well balanced. Each sip stays with you for a while.
