12 ounce bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy very dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, molasses, raisin, plum, fig, light char, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and light-moderate dark fruit notes; with solid strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, molasses, raisin, plum, fig, light char, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Minimal roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, molasses, raisin, plum, fig light char, and roast/yeast earthiness. Nice complexity and robustness of dark/roasted malt and light-moderate dark fruit notes; with no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.6%. Overall this is a nice Schwarzbier style. All around good complexity and robustness of dark/roasted malt and light-moderate dark fruit flavors; and very smooth to drink. A fair bit fruity in the nose and taste, but not by an overwhelming amount. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Bottle from Morrisons. Dark almost black beer with a thin tan head. Aroma has a bit of malt, the taste less so but with a spritzy lime taste.

Clear, near-opaque black beer with a thin head. Aroma is sweet, lightly chocolatey malt. In the flavour the chocolatey malt is matched by a twist of fruit. There’s not much body to it and it’s every so slightly on the watery side but it’s a perfectly drinkable beer all the same.
