Purchased a 12 oz bottle from Bert’s Better Beers, Hooskett, NH. Poured into a lager glass, looks deep brown with thin, small, tan head. Very faint chocolate aroma. This is what I expected, light roasted malt, light chocolate with a light nutty flavor. This isn’t going to get you super excited BUT, it would be a nice gateway brew for someone who is just starting to drink craft beer. Middle of the road. Not bad however, I wouldn’t call it “Black Silk”

12 oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a tan head. Brown sugar and dark fruits in the aroma. Flavor has brown sugar and again some dark fruits, biscuit, with a light lagery palate. Sweetish aftertaste. It’s just okay.

Bottle. A clear, almost golden beer with a small, white head. The aroma is weak, with some malts and fruityness. The flavor too is on the weak side, a touch of malts and a hint of yellow apples, that’s almost it. Not much bitterness detected. Thin body, decent carbonation. A beer that drinks very easily, just like water, but it’s far from impressing in any way. 110330

Pours a nice deep, deep reddish-black with garnet around the sides. Nice tan head leaves lacing and a collar after it fades. Not much aroma, a little sweetness and coffee. Sweetness on the palate finishes quickly. Dry finish. Some slight bitterness. A little bit of cola as well.

Looks flat and moderately dark brown, kinda ugly for a Schwarzbier. Nutty, creamy, with an initial appeal to dark beer drinkers, but quickly fades into a buttery, English funk, doughy and bland, with a thin, flavorless finish. Decent mouthfeel. Drink this beer just to say you’ve had Brazillian beer and move on. (3/11/09)
