Hazy deep gold,lasting beige head.Spiced nose. Flavor of coriander,belgian yeast and a hint of ?? Nutmeg?

Black with creamy lasting brown head.Starts almost vinegary, finishes with a light roastiness. A bit on the thin side

Deep amber with long lasting tan head.Lacking in body. Has a lingering hop finish but not enough malt to balance

Deep brown with fast fading head. No noticeable aroma. Taste is smooth roasted malt. Rather thin

re-rate Slightly reddish accent to what is ultimately an orange beer. Aroma is of candy cherries and little else. I should mention that this beer is bright - years ago when Shirley Warne was brewer is was gloriously muddy (ok, I only scored it a three but I remember it better than that) and one of the best fruit beers on the planet. Today is has a strong woody, balsamic note with heady alcohol (reportedly over 8%). There is astringency as well, which clashes with the candyish fruit. Clumsy and styleless, a mockery of its former self.

original rating: 1997 Made with the new years’ harvest of sour cherries from the Fraser Valley. Reddish muddy looking. The beer is based on wheat, but there is so much more going on. Perhaps the complexity develops from the lactobacillus infection, the use of whole fruit in the secondary fermentation, fermented to the pit, or the wild yeasts that are present in the skins. No matter, really, this beer is very complex and astonishingly balanced. A fruit beer for true beer lovers. AR 8 AP 3 FL 8 P 4 O 16

Amber colour. Has a blackcurrant/berry fruity C-hop character. Moderate bitterness, the balancing malts have a light sweet biscuity taste. The finish carries that moderate bitterness, enough to be moreish. Relatively clean. Decent brew, better than it used to be back in the day. Score upgraded to from 2.9 to 3.4.
