330ml can. Minimally milky, amber colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, fairly lasting and lacing, off-white head. Citrusy and slightly piney, hoppy aroma, pale and minimally caramel malty background with a peanut touch, notes of pine needles, pineapple, lemon, lime, hints of orange zest. Taste is dry, moderately bitter hoppy, citrusy and piney, notes of lemon, inconspicuous but staunch pale malty backbone. Absolutely conforms to its mission, at least on par with the better part of autochthonous West Coast Pale Ales.

355ml can. Cloudy, orangey golden colour with small to average, frothy, moderately lasting and lacing, white head. Citrusy hoppy aroma, notes of lemon tea, lemon biscuit, caramel malty basis, seemingly in regular IPA strength, but finally shaping up as slightly ephemeral. Taste is bitter hoppy, slightly citrusy, minimally strawy, hints of lemon, lemon tea; bitter, slightly mineral and chalky finish.

500ml can from Ales by Mail. Canned 250816 (sadpanda). Pours clear orange with a smooth head. Aroma of caramely malts, toffee, pine, resinous hops, herbal notes, grass and citrus. Taste is sweet, sticky and caramely malty with some piney notes, grass, herbal hops and citrus. Finish is herbal hoppy, resinous and piney with some sweet caramely malts and aged grassy hoppy notes. Heavy and sweetish old skool DIPA, but unfortunately not very fresh.

Tap at Brewdog Birmingham. Poured a clear medium amber with a thin broken white head. The aroma is grainy malt, light fruit, aromatic hop and light alcohol. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a big rich alcoholic fruit, woody resin hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Can, 7.0% ABV, 10C. Design looks more like baaarghfroom tiles than a mosaic, but that’s Adelaide for you. Or maybe that’s just me. Bright gold with a white head that is soon less than a coat. 3+ Aroma of grapefruit, mandarin, toast, lychees, pine, some hints of marijuana and spices. Sweet, clean and fruity with a stinging bitter finish. Needs that lick of caramel to stop it being a buzzsaw. This is no sophisticated guddling of the palate, just a blast. And that’s more than fine. 8383 16

From a 500ml can on 20/6/2017. Pours near black with a big tan head which disappears. Has a light roasty chocolate aroma. It begins with some sweet chocolate and a hint of coffee, which is met by a distinct and lingering roasty bitterness. Full bodied with average carbonation. Well made and very tasty.
