On tap at Foresters Hall: Pours surprisingly dark. A little light on for noticeable aroma. Toasted, roasty flavours. A nicely balanced malt profile. Not as awe-inspiring as their hopforward beers, but a nice drop for a winters afternoon.

Can. Just hazy gold with a white head. Vibrant aroma of passionfruit, peach, mango, pine, grapefruit. Fairly thin with highish carbonation that makes it a bit astringent. Hints of bread and caramel, fruit is sharper and less expressive than in the aroma. Dry at the end with bitterness that’s maybe a little excessive for what the light body can take.

Can. Clear amber with an off-white head that doesn’t last all that well. Aroma of peach, pine, oranges, pepper, a little toast. Not a blast of hops, quite delicate. Sweet with (thankfully) more stonefruit than caramel, some bread, a little not entirely welcome dried fruit. Very strong bitterness and citrus and lesser pine and peppery flavours pinch off the sweetness and it dries out enough to stop it from seeming really heavy. A little overt alcohol at the end and there is a degree to which the bitterness becomes a roar after a while. Clearly owes something to BrewDog’s Hardcore. Interesting (and good) that this is nothing like a beefed up version of their pale ale. Impressive.

Can. Clear amber with a large white head. Aroma of kumquats, grapefruit, pine, caramel, some mango, grass. Quite sweet and there’s more caramel than I’d really like, but there’s a lightness and creamy liveliness to the texture that is nice. Some tropical fruit, loads of citrus and pepper, fairly resinous and bitter at the end. Good.
