Smell- weak to medium, malt, coffee, roast. Foam- thick, roasted, malt, some liqueur and alcohol notes. Head is medium-sized, dark brown, white cocoa foam, and transaction from beer to foam is beautiful. Appearance- generic black bottle cap, simple bottle design, very dark brown, almost black, some carbonation only visible with shining light, but a small amount. Taste- malty, liquor, roast, coffee, alcohol, warmth, some sweet notes, sweet with roast notes, aftertaste sweet. Does feel nice and thick, I like it, I like milk stouts, they have not disappointed me so far.

Can at Lauvas Alus, Riga A nice hoppy aroma on this one. Pours a cloudy pale straw with a strong white head reminiscent of an ice cream sundae ! Good lacing as well. Mouth has a mixing of citrus lemons and wheat and cloves. The finish is wheaty as well. Very nice.

A strong hoppy and nutty aroma builds up expectations and they are not disappointed ! Pours a classic “English bitter brown” and a strong off-white head. In the mouths – well hops, hops everywhere – but in a balanced way. Wonderfully bitter hops, tea leaves and brazil nuts. A trace of oranges in the finish too, where the alcoholic strength comes through. I don’t like way-out hoppy beers as a rule, but this is just so well done ...

Well made, exactly what they’re going for, but it is too bitter for my taste, later hop additions would make it perfect. Taka Riga
