310ml bottle from Beergium
BBE JUN 2016 - Pours clear golden with a thick foamy head. Aroma of citrusy hops, crisp malts, hints of pine and grass. Taste is carbonated, stuffy and slightly crisp with some harsh earthiness, dry bitterness and hints of citrus. Finish is heavily carbonated, dry, earthy and grainy with some harsh hoppiness. A bit unbalanced.

Imperial stout with creamy, dense, lacing, mocha coloured, moussy head over a very dark burgundy coloured beer, as good as black. Aroma of cured meat, baker’s chocolate, pipe tobacco, bayleaf, black coffee grounds but not too strong, caramel candy, black olive, kahlua, candied dates, seaweed, salmiak, natural ’iron’. Taste starts very umami-like, meaty, dried porcini, subtle sweetness of raisins and figs poured over it, deep sourish accent, thick and viscous mouthfeel, caramelly and chocolatey maltiness but dry, with a mouth-filling coffeeish roasted bitterness, strong and a bit ashy, further supported by a firm peppery, herbal and leafy hop bitterness, very long and dry, with a glow of warming, liqueurish alcohol following. Very dry, clean, thick and filling ’impy’, hugely enjoyed this.
