Description
Authentically different. There are no other words that carry more weight than these at Lock 27 Brewing. Regardless of whether it’s the broad range of Lock 27 house beers, the diversity of our scratch-made menu from our gastropub kitchen, or all the fun we have in our daily routine, I encourage everyone on our staff to always question conventional wisdom. Always look for new ways of doing. Always find new things to try.

Not just for the sake of different, but for the sake of creating something extraordinary.

Black with a creamy tan head. Very sweet, milk chocolate, caramel. No real roasted notes to speak of. I’ve had countless Bill’s sour cream donuts and I get exactly zero donut flavor here, which is disappointing. Full bodied. It’s a nice sweet stout if that’s your thing but for Bill’s fans it doesn’t do much.

Thanks to my FiL for bringing a four-pack of this all the way to Japan!

Draft. Deep golden body with a frothy white head. Aroma of toasted grain, pine, citrus, grapefruit. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Taste of floral hops, pine, citrus. Lingering bitterness.

Draught downtown. Dark brown if not black. Smooth chocolate, caramel, light vanilla, toffee, toasted malts. Very smooth and clean. Impressed with this offering. Not a robust powerhouse just a flavorful, bold brew.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a clear dark reddish-brown color with a medium thin light beige head that recedes steadily to a film. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of malt, caramel and slight hops. Light to medium body with flavors of smoked malt, caramel and mild earthy hops. The finish is sweet and slightly smokey with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.
