Description
The brewery Slaghmuylder was founded in 1860 by Emmanuel Slaghmuylder. Around the turn of the century his son Ernest took over the company. He married Marie Van Roy, daughter of a brewer family of Wieze. His three sons opened a new brewery in 1926 which could start immediately with the new brewing process for lager beer. During the war of 1940-1945 brewing restarted for high-fermentation ales. It is only in1958 that the brewery started again with the production of low-fermentation beers. In the mid sixties the three brothers were succeeded by their sons. From 1979 on, the three nephews started brewing the Witkap Pater beers on request of brewery "De Drie Linden" from Brasschaat. In 1981 the Witkap Pater brand was officially taken over by Slaghmuylder. Beginning of theeighties the brewery was equipped with separate fermentation and layering cellars for both high and low fermentation beers. Brewery Slaghmuylder remains a unique family company that builds on a rich tradition.

Bottle at Belgo, London
Blond color. I expected a lame beer, instead it’s a pleasant Pils: some malt aroma, creamy; even better malt flavor, with a cereal and honey touch, possibly even crispy, and a good quality hopping. Easy but pleasant.

Bottle 21 months past its drink by date. Very fruity, vinous aroma with lots of honey and come citrus. Deep honey gold color with a thick, firm head that never went away. Flavor of honey, citrus hops, melon, plum, raisins, sherry, and a touch of alcohol. Amazingly smooth and silky, yet slightly effervescent. Great. Hops milder, yet very complex with age.
