Description
The brewery Slaghmuylder was founded in 1860 by Emmanuel Slaghmuylder. Around the turn of the century his son Ernest took over the company. He married Marie Van Roy, daughter of a brewer family of Wieze. His three sons opened a new brewery in 1926 which could start immediately with the new brewing process for lager beer. During the war of 1940-1945 brewing restarted for high-fermentation ales. It is only in1958 that the brewery started again with the production of low-fermentation beers. In the mid sixties the three brothers were succeeded by their sons. From 1979 on, the three nephews started brewing the Witkap Pater beers on request of brewery "De Drie Linden" from Brasschaat. In 1981 the Witkap Pater brand was officially taken over by Slaghmuylder. Beginning of theeighties the brewery was equipped with separate fermentation and layering cellars for both high and low fermentation beers. Brewery Slaghmuylder remains a unique family company that builds on a rich tradition.

330ml bottle. Pours slightly hazy light gold with a small head. Aroma is yeasty straw, a little lemon and candy sugar. Taste is quite yeasty throughout with some straw and a little candy sugar in the finish. Prickly carbonation.

Pretty solid dubbel. When fresh would be great, this one’s pretty good but 8 months old. Hit a lot of the great spots of the style. Bier konig ams

Bottle at Huis, Southsea. Aroma is sugary with a hint of dried fruit. Hazy gold. Thin foamy white head. Medium nitter with a sour edge, with a sugary fruity streak. Herbs. But it's the bitterness and sourness that is most obvious. Light bodied. Slick. Average prickly carbonation. Long dry finish.

Jolie prestation.
