(Bottle) Clear golden with good of-white head. Lovely floral aroma with hints of passionfruit and undertones of toffee. Medium body with excellent carbonation. Rich caramel foretaste moves to an excellent bitter finish. Overall a very good beer.

2012 bottle. Bronze with no head. Not far off still - wonder whether it’s properly carbonated despite the mountain of wax. Powerful aroma of dried fruit (raisins, plums, figs) , pine and spices. Some coffee and alcohol. Dried fruit, burnt sugars, strong pine and herbal bitter notes. Booze sticks out a bit - I would have guessed 12%+. Complex and quite intense flavours and really quite bitter. Getting towards taxing, but plenty going on and coherent enough to actually drink.

The aroma is marshmallow, banana and butterscotch with a little lemony hop bitterness cutting through the slightly cloying sweetness. In the mouth, the roles are flipped as the hops take the lead, their lemon flavour strangely dominating the roof of the mouth rather than the tongue. Behind that, there’s overripe banana and barley. Overall, the aroma is a little overwhelming for me, but the hops make this hefe reasonably refreshing to drink on a warm day, even if it tends a little towards lemon squash.

Pours copper with a small head.Nose shows loads of rich sweet malt with caramel, golden syrup and bready melanoidin notes.Equally rich flavours. Golden syrup, bready malt, booze, toasty notes. The booze is a little harsh/full-on.Thick body suits the beers well.

Bottle @ Fanø Slumber Party, 2012. Pours black with a creamy head and lacings. Oak, chocolate, roast and coffee. Really roasted bitter flavor. A bit of fruit and warmth from alcohol. Smooth and sticky. Nice.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of thewolf. 12.3% ABV in this version. Pours an opaque black with a creamy light brown head. Sweet cocoa powder aroma. Quite full-bodied, again cocoa and some salty licorice with a fairly malty bitter finish. A different but enjoyable take on an Imperial Stout. 280712

Black with a lasting firm tan head. Aroma of licorice, toffee, cocoa and soy sauce. Sweet roasted flavour with lots of licorice and soy sauce and a bit of charcoal with a nice hoppy and bitter finish. A little too sweetand with that soy sauce.

Tap at GABS. Gold with a modest white head. Aroma of caramel, wheat, oranges, cloves. Pretty light-bodied. Sweetish taste, slight wheaty tartness followed by a very dry finish. Oranges, dough, caramel, spicy at the end. Refreshing.

Growler. Murky amber with a large pale beige head that lasts. Aroma of grapefruit, lemon pudding, kumquat, apricot, pine, biscuit. Taste is sweetish with more biscuit than caramel, apricots, a melange of citrus flavours. Light creamy texture. Moderately bitter finish is not particularly dry. Slightly soapy at the end. Charming and refreshing. Nicely balanced this fresh; might get a bit flabby if they bottle it.
