Not one of my preferred styles. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a pale golden color with a huge white head. The aroma is tangy light malts with a hint of lemon. The flavor is sweet and tangy with a moderate citrusy element. The finish is tangy malts. Not bad for the style.

12 oz bottle. Another harpoon, hah. taste like a watered down imp Stout. Pours really black with a bit of lacing. Aroma is very present - sweet coffe, caramel sweetness, and a bit of soury sweetness. Taste is very watered down with a thin body. It better than most of their offerings.

Pours a bright gold into a shaker. Frothy, bright white micro head cones above the rim. Clean hop and mild malt aromas (honest to god I wrote that before looking at the description).. Crisp with upfront sweet caramel and a metallic bitter lasting finish.

2005 Session 11 22oz. Pours hazy rose into a footed pilsner. Offwhite head quickly dissipates. Raspberry aromas. Light raspberry up front which turns to slight bitter finish.

Nose of a little chocolate with a samll vanilla hint to go with the roasty malts; transparent very dark brown, with virtually no head; watery body with a little coffee and chocolate.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a crisp caramel color with a huge dark tan head - very pretty. The aroma is sour tangy malts with a hint of fruity hops. The flavor is sour tangy malts with a light floral hop presence and a hint of vegetal malts underneath. The sour tangy malts linger on the palate quite a while.

Poured a straw yellow color with a fizzy white head. The beer is murky, as opaque as a porter, which really showed it’s unfiltered nature. The initial aroma is wheaty with distinct hoppiness. Sweet flavor, not very malty or wheaty, and I tasted a hint of banana, must be from the yeast. Clean but slightly watery finish. Not a great example of hefeweizen, but a good beer none the less.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bronze color with a medium sized yellow-white head. The aroma is nutty malts. The flavor is sour and tangy nutty malts with a floral hop element on the finish.

Clear light golden pour with a well-sustained head - some sweet, pale/pilsner malt in the aroma, with a mild yeasty quality, light floral notes - flavor is initially somewhat sweet, with herbal notes, followed by an overly-dry Saaz hop smack in the tongue - some mild sweetness in the finish, but not much else - it tastes alright, I guess, but it’s kind of boring and out of balance - a bit above macro lagers, and far below the hallmarks of the style - I keep giving these harpoon 100 barrel beers a chance, and I am so often not rewarded for it - why do I bother?

Sampled at the Odds and Ends Tasting on 8/16/06: Dark brown color with a minimal beige head that disappears almost immediately. Very little lacing is apparent. Malty aroma, with some smoke. Medium-bodied with a bright almost medicine’y character. Oak, malt and pine flavors are intersperced with some sharp alcohol. The finish is strong and sweet. Seems a little disjointed but fairly enjoyable nonetheless.
