Description
It all started in 1986. Sure, many things have changed since the early days of Harpoon, but much has stayed the same. We still love brewing beer and enjoying it with friends.

In July 2014, Harpoon became an employee owned company, with 48% of the company given to employees through the establishment of an ESOP. An E-what? ESOP stands for Employee Stock Ownership Plan. It is a mechanism by which a company contributes to its employees’ retirement by allocating shares to them which it repurchases…..yadda, yadda, yadda… Here’s what it means: we are employee owned, we are an independent craft brewer, and you bet we’re damn proud of it.

2002 bottlebetter than i expected. Light, very light. gold kolsch, i had this when i had Sierra SummerFest. it didnt stand up, but maybe a better choice for the casual drinker. Grassy and clean. 2003 draft in boston Well this certainly was alot better than the bottle I tried last year in Rochester. Initial taste is sharp with some sour hops/yeast flavor that adds a meaty punch up front and was very pleasant. The beer finished off even and had some sweet and yeasty notes throughout. The body stood up well and did not thin out.

this started out great. . . but then went no where. it has almost no body. just a nice fruity, hoppy nose that peters off leaving me thinking. why didnt they finish making this beer? MORE MORE MORE, thats all it needed.

Orangey-amber; Aroma shows orange, cinnamon, heavy nutmeg. Palate is again heavy on the nutmeg, but there is enough malt there to hold it up. Good, full body, spicy finish. Nothing spectacular, but a solid winter seasonal.

Light brown, bright appearance; toast, chocolate, toffee on the nose; slightly copper-tasting palate w/toffeeish malts and subtle chestnut, but finishing somewhat wet.

Dark yellowish color, big sturdy white head. Nice yet mild almost floral hop aroma. Flavor mildly sweet and somewhat fruity in an Englishy way, with American hop flavors, and medium bitterness. Easy drinking.

A pretty good pilsner. Nice golden color and a big rocky white head. Nicely hopped. Smooth.

Impressively hoppy IPA - West Coast flavour from Mass. Good curranty notes. Had it with chili when I was in NYC. It was a brilliant combination, repeated frequently since.

I like it, but the traditional Munich darks I've tried had much more character and depth. This one bordered on being overhopped.

I was really impressed when I first tasted this beer. An interesting mix of hops provides a nicely bitter and somewhat floral aroma and flavor.
