DESTIHL was founded on the promise of supporting flavor and boycotting bland. We're an independent, production brewery that was established in 2013 in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois to brew beyond the confines of typical beers. Our team combines centuries-old global brewing traditions and new American craft brewing ingenuity & artisanship to produce a wide array of beers for every palate. We brew more styles of beer because we have a passion for brewing and because you have a passion for unique, craft beers. The result is a diverse offering of intensely flavorful beers that are anything but bland, from our award-winning WiLD SOUR Series, barrel-aged Saint Dekkera® Reserve Sour Ales and Dosvidanya® Russian Imperial Stout, to our many Belgian-style beers, IPA's, other wood-aged beers, classic styles and exciting seasonals. DESTIHL has become a brand, but we have not strayed from our roots. We take pride in our values and will continue to grow and support our local community. On tap @ Boulder Strong Ale Fest 2014. Pours a fairly clear, dark orange appearance with a thin tan head. Booze is awfully strong in the nose and flavor. A lot of retronasal burn. Caramel and dough. Some spice and a touch of banana / apple / raisins. Plenty of rye. Not my thing.
On tap @ Boulder Strong Ale Fest 2014. Pours an orangish brown appearance with a nice tan head. Caramel and nuttiness in the nose. Fair amount of toast and a touch of fruits. Slightly doughy flavor. Dull caramel. A bit of fruit. Alcohol seemed a bit too much. Ok but disappointing.
Draft: Clear copper/amber with a small, off-white head. Caramel,dark fruit...a hint of smoke in the aroma. Plum, dark fruits, toffee flavor. Very smooth. with a slight alcohol sting and bitter. Really good.
Draft. Cherry-apple malt and alcohol aroma. Amber with small head. Sweet toffee malt flavor with light cherry note. Strong alcohol/astringent finish. Very nice.
