Description
Une Anneé, an Independent Craft Brewery, was born, in 2013, on the near west side of Chicago, with the quest of making fine Belgian inspired ales for all beer lovers. Founded by architect and Chicago native, Jerry Nelson, Une Anneé, has expanded it’s offerings over the years with an emphasis on fruited and unfruited American Wile Ales and Barrel Aged Stouts. In 2017, the brewery moved to neighboring Chicago suburb, Niles, IL and expanded to include a taproom. The working brewery in the background lends a hand to creating a laid back atmosphere where you can sit back and enjoy some of your favorite craft beers on tap.

Bottle. Pours a clear light gold with a touch of orange and a bubbly white head that dissipates nearly completely. Aroma has light tart fruits with a bit of earthy grains and some light funk. Flavor has tropical fruit with a light tartness and some earthy grain.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but was recently released to Michigan. Pours lightly hazy deep ruby red/brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of pear, apple, grape, light banana, pepper, clove, caramel, toast, brown bread, brown sugar, light chocolate, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big pear, apple, grape, light banana, pepper, clove, caramel, toast, brown bread, brown sugar, light chocolate, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy yeast spice and light wheat tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of pear, apple, grape, light banana, pepper, clove, caramel, toast, brown bread, brown sugar, light chocolate, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice dark saison style. All around great robustness, complexity, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Sampled via bottle at WTWBA 2014. Dry. Some cardboard, and lots of wet, moldy basement. Interesting beer that is not sour, not that it should be, even though I was left wondering if it might go that way with some more time.

Enjoyed from bottle at a party which was a gift, a much appreciated one at that. Didn't take tasting notes, remember this being a nice Belgian triple, moderate abv for the style, nice clove notes, pretty good stuff.

Paid $4.99 for a 500 ml bottle at Binny’s Lincoln Park location. Sticker on bottle of bottle reads Batch 45. Nice fresh citrus with orange peel, lemons and light yeast. Palate is subtle and clean. Lemon zest, oranges, spicy yeast notes and straw. The body is crisp and effervescent, really great feel becoming dry. Damn refreshing!
