Description
Une Anneé, an Independent Craft Brewery, was born, in 2013, on the near west side of Chicago, with the quest of making fine Belgian inspired ales for all beer lovers. Founded by architect and Chicago native, Jerry Nelson, Une Anneé, has expanded it’s offerings over the years with an emphasis on fruited and unfruited American Wile Ales and Barrel Aged Stouts. In 2017, the brewery moved to neighboring Chicago suburb, Niles, IL and expanded to include a taproom. The working brewery in the background lends a hand to creating a laid back atmosphere where you can sit back and enjoy some of your favorite craft beers on tap.

Bottle I schlepped back with me from the Midwest - hazy orange pour, with a fluffy, well-sustained head - nose has a nice earthy must to it, along with a slight muskiness, which leads to tangy, citric hop nose, and an underlying dry, toasty, lightly nutty malt richness that reminds me very much of a Biere de Garde - soft carbonation and texture - malts are dry, but rich, toasty, nutty, lightly doughy - soft basement yeast character - hops arrive late, but pack a slight punch - fairly bitter, leading to quite a peppery finish, along with a slight, lingering mineral quality - really does remind me of a hoppy BdG - I like it, despite it being a little hot in the finish - interested about the saison I brought back, now.

Pour is a chalky, yeast filled yellow with a huge white head. Aroma is yeast, doughy malt and a bit of lemongrass. Flavor is the same estery yeast notes followed but a decent citrus/lemon with some dry malt to bring things up. A saison by the numbers but this is a pretty tasty version.

Location: Draft at Blue Frog's Local 22, 6/23/14

Aroma: The aroma has some clean hops, some fruitiness, and some metallic notes
Appearance: This one pours a cloudy orange color with a beige head and pretty good lacing
Flavor: This beer has a nice, solid flavor, it comes off as pretty clean and balanced
Palate: The mouthfeel is very soft and easy drinking, and it has a light dry finish to it
Overall Impression: This is the first thing I've tried from (and first time I have heard of for that matter) Une Annee. It may not be the most impressive beer, but it something that is worth trying. Solid stuff.
