Really hazy bright gold, small white head. The aroma is humble clean pale malt sugars and lots of non-malt components, ranging from green grass to medicinal herbs and aspirin, then spicy roots like ginger, parsnip, licorice and anise. None of these resemble regular belgian yeast derived phenolic spice, neither the beer feels dry. The taste follows the same profile - light pale malt and bitter herbal and spicy thing the aroma suggests. Again, no spicy Belgian phenols, and no crisp dryness most native saisons have. Overall, not a saison, but it does feels like a decent sweet root spiced brew, but only if you like this (slightly weird) stuff in your beer.

PET at home, from tank. Hazy copper, beige head. The aroma is not breathtakingly strong, but still nice - caramel and a dash of citrus, zest. The taste is straightforward - caramel and juicy grapefruit, followed by a massive bitterness. You don't encounter really bitter beers this year. Decent.

DRAFT at Taproom 27. Hazy mahogany, creamy beige head. Probably, light dark caramel and pink grapefruit and pith - very faint, but then it's served so damn cold! The taste is a Red IPA as before, light pink grapefruit sweetness, dry leaves, good mouth coating pithy bitterness. Easy drinking, with a peasant lightly abrasive mouthfeel. Nice.

PET at home, straight from the tank. Hazy red (mine is straight from the tank), creamy beige head. Latent gusher. The aroma is not strong, but nice - cold grapefruit zest and some mint, caramel. The taste is a balance between crystal and juicy grapefruit, with moderate to strong piney bitterness. The bitterness has that slight medicinal edge that Beermaster lagers have. So, it's more like a red IPA than a brown ale and a pretty decent juicy and bitter one.

Almost opaque black, clear ruby highlights, beige head. The aroma is clean, but simple - sweet bread and cocoa muffin dough, just a hint of green hop matter, little to none bolder roasty flavours. A tiny bit of ethanol vapours cutting through your nostrils, reminding you about beer's considerable gravity. Similar taste - you start getting some baking chocolate, chocolate cookies, then a pinch of green hops and... that's about it. The body is lean and smooth, easy drinking, but lacks the velvetines of richer strong stouts. Not much alcohol to talk about, but you can feel some heat down the throat. Nice and clean, just too unimperial by modern standards.

Hazy amber, creamy beige head. The aroma is light caramel, more sugary than smooth, sweet citrus, light yeast. Pretty nice. Simple medium sweet crystal sweetness, barely some citrus pulp , crisp piney bitterness. A bit simplistic, but clean and easy drinking.

PET 1,5 L. Hazy mahogany, diminishing head. Smells, or rather stinks, of burnt sugar and spoiled white bread, acidic notes. Sweet as hell, some acid remotely resembling supermarket apple juice. basically that is it - stinky ultra-sweet mess.

Bouteille 50cl at Niamey's craft beer tasting. Merci Dorian.

500mL bottle, courtesy of dnicolaescu (thanks Dorin!), pours a clear pale yellow with a small white head. Nose smells like pure fresh swill, with boiled vegetables, cereal grains and straw. Flavour is quite skunky, with lots of boiled vegetables, straw and even a slight sourness to it. Quite terrible, even for a macro lager.

On tap at Vdrova, pours a deep dark brown with a tiny beige head. Aroma brings out toasted nuts and biscuity malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with toasted nuts and crisp bready malt. Dry and nutty. It's nothing special, but it's alright.

On tap at Vdrova, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out biscuity malt, dry hopping and light herbal notes. Flavour is dry, with biscuity malt, light clove and straw. A bit bitter, but it's not too bad.
