Description
Welcome to Cardigan Brewery, a union of Penlon Beers & Innkeeper Wales, creating great Welsh beers that can be enjoyed at home, from a range of great shops across the land, or at the pub, including our very own Teifi Waterside Hotel or Brynhoffnant Inn.

Started brewing in October 2004 initially as Penlon Cottage Brewery. It is a small scale operation which brews are range of bottle conditions beers. It was initially based near Pencae moving to its location in 2015. In 2020 they merged with Innkeeper Wales and changed to the current name although Penlon Cottage Brewery is still used.

500ml bottle from the Deli at the end of Chris_o’s road. Black with thin deep beige head. Lots of choc and coffee on aroma. Probably the best of these beers that I’ve had. The dark choc is reasonably intense without being overly bitter. I would expect it to be stronger than 4.5%. Maybe it lacks a bit of depth in the mouth. Good spicey finish. An elegant flavourful stout.

Bottle from the deli at the end of Chris_o’s road. Beautiful pale chestnut with thick head. Looks in great condition. Dry malt and bit of choc on aroma. Little bit earthy as is the way with lots of BCAs. Some juicy malt in mouth. Some hop on finish. Malts and mouthfeel are fine. Earthy hop finish. Bit muddy. Tastes home made to be honest. Uncultured woody rubber.

Bottle from the deli at the end of Chris_o’s road. Copper gold colour with lasting fluffy off white head. Cereal and light citrus aroma. Pretty decent light ale with excellent hop sting on finish. Little bit earthy and bleachy like so many BCAs, why don’t they chill filter instead? Cracking condition though. Very light citrus throughout. Settles down and comes out ok.
