Description
It all started with eight visionary men who founded the “Vereinsbrauerei Berliner Gastwirte zu Berlin AG” on February 1st, 1872 in Rixdorf. They established a modern brewery within one year, which was opened on July 19, 1873. The first public serving takes place on this day. In 1890 the brewery decides, as one of the first breweries in Germany, to brew a Pilsen beer. It is called - based on its southern German relatives - "Berliner Kindl". In 1910 the brewery is renamed "Berliner Kindl Brauerei AG". In 2006 Berliner Kindl returns to its former location in the east of Berlin. The entire range is now brewed in the Berliner Kindl Schultheiss brewery in Lichtenberg.

Cloudy red with a pink head. Sweet raspberry notes in the aroma. Flavor was sweet and sourish with raspberries, marzipan and almonds. Finished sourish. Funny enough this had some cherry notes as well.

bottle, pours a grape kool-aid color, like a watered down cloudy purple, with a thin white head. The aroma is very pungent, tons of black current, and a sugary sour background. Light wheat and sour malt, ends with a very sweet black current flavor that fades into a little bit of sourness, coming from the fruit. Overall too sweet for me.

bottle, pours lime green with a thin light green head. Sour pine, simple syrup, and a nutty aroma are fairly strong. Lightly sweet from the get-go with some wheat and light malt that are heavily masked by a sweet rock sugar candy flavor. Ends with a nice lingering pistachio flavor. Definately not beer in my book, and the finish saves it from being a sugary sweet mess.

bottle, pours hazy pink with a medium soft pink head. Aroma is raspberry syrup and grapefruit. Flavor is lightly wheat, but is heavily masked by tons of raspberry that is sweet and fades to a slightly sour finish. Not all that bad, but hardly beer.

bottle, pours hazy gold with a medium white head. Heavy wheat aroma, some lemon juice and a wild yeast note. Very interesting flavor, malt and wheat body with a sourness that is nestled in the background upfront, but slowly makes it’s way forward and ends with a tart punch of lemon rind and grapefruit. I really like how mellow the sour content is at first, and how it builds in the mouth. Didn’t know what to expect, but it drink pretty good.

This one is just a bit too sour as is. I know it’s heresy, but, sorry to say, I prefer it with syrup mixed in, especially the essence of woodruff (green). Then it has a very interesting combination of sweet and sour.
