About
It all started with eight visionary men who founded the “Vereinsbrauerei Berliner Gastwirte zu Berlin AG” on February 1st, 1872 in Rixdorf. They established a modern brewery within one year, which was opened on July 19, 1873. The first public serving takes place on this day. In 1890 the brewery decides, as one of the first breweries in Germany, to brew a Pilsen beer. It is called - based on its southern German relatives - "Berliner Kindl". In 1910 the brewery is renamed "Berliner Kindl Brauerei AG". In 2006 Berliner Kindl returns to its former location in the east of Berlin. The entire range is now brewed in the Berliner Kindl Schultheiss brewery in Lichtenberg.

Pours a hazy gold into a tumbler. Slight head skims the surface and rim. Spicy lemon rind aromas. Lemony tart and refreshing with very lively palate. Finish is quite abrupt and bitter lemon with a little malt. It seems like this beer is brewed to style -- not sure why people rate so low if this is exactly to style. Ah, well.

Sampled at a drinking session in Tromsø. Unclear and rather awful pink body. Powerful aroma of red raspberry. Very syrupy taste. To me this is syrup, not beer.

Bottle. Pale golden beer with a fruity and light aroma. The flavour is very sour and only because it is cold does it become drinkable. Overall a poor beer that tastes a bit like vinegar.

Sweet malty flavour and taste, medium to full bodied, ok carbonated; medium dry sweetbitter toastmalty and quite short finish. Not overly exciting but pretty drinkable Bock.

Bottle. Acidic aroma, only little berry. Cloudy dark purple colour, almost no head. The flavour starts off sour, but is also quite sweet. Acidic aftertaste. Not that bad, actually.
