Description
It all started with eight visionary men who founded the “Vereinsbrauerei Berliner Gastwirte zu Berlin AG” on February 1st, 1872 in Rixdorf. They established a modern brewery within one year, which was opened on July 19, 1873. The first public serving takes place on this day. In 1890 the brewery decides, as one of the first breweries in Germany, to brew a Pilsen beer. It is called - based on its southern German relatives - "Berliner Kindl". In 1910 the brewery is renamed "Berliner Kindl Brauerei AG". In 2006 Berliner Kindl returns to its former location in the east of Berlin. The entire range is now brewed in the Berliner Kindl Schultheiss brewery in Lichtenberg.

Bottled. Very pale yellow, no head. Citric acid nose. Light bodied with fruity, rubbery, vital mouthfeel. Sour, but very refreshing. Does have a lot of similarities to Döllnitzer Ritterguts Gose.

Pours golden yellow with a bright white head. Corn and yeast scents with a small amount of sugary notes. First taste brought a slightly sweet corn and grape flavour with a hoppy finish. Palate was watery with that pilsner taste that I've never liked but this one wasn't too bad. Nothing outstanding!!

Pale yellow, hazy colour. Huge head that disappears quickly. Aroma of lime and apples. Very acidic flavor of lemon-zest and apple-juice. Very refreshing.

33 cL bottle. I can't say I liked what I found. I thought perhaps this bottle had gone south as it was freshness dated for 4/02, but I see by the description that the style is exactly as I experienced. Thin head dwindles to nothing over a pale yellow beer. Spritzy, with a very sour lemonade and grapefruit taste. Sourness overcomes any malts or hop impression. It was worth it to experience the style, but this won't become one of my favorites. I have a second bottle that I'll try with a syrup (or maybe a peach schnapps or Frango liquer?).
Re-sampled, Nov. 15, '03. This time I was prepared with a bottle of raspberry flavoring syrup. Just a little splash made it nice and smooth. Though pinkish, of course, the tartness remaining gave it an edge over most raspberry beers. Probably might even be well matched with a 7-up.

Clear orange color, thick foam. Skunky sharp metal aroma, bit hops maybe. Sharp metallic flavor and iron palate. This one is just disgusting, i cannot understand those previous ratings...

Bottled. Bright radioactive green colour. Candyish apple aroma. Light bodied, sweet and lightly acidic. The finish is like easting baked apples with cinnamon and custard. I must admit that I kind of like it...

Bottled. Pale yellow, hazy with shallow head. Acidic raspberry aroma which is bordering to a hint of raisiny malta. Light bodied and crisp, refreshing and lemony, but slightly papery. Black cherry finish.

Nice malty aroma - a slight note of straw. The color is a clear golden with a fine but collapsing head. The flavor is malty, slightly sweet and notes of straw. It has no bitterness to speak of - but kind of sticks in your mouth - pretty weird. A very average beer - not bitter enough to be a thirst quencher.

A pale yellow cloudy beer with an OK head. The aroma is a sweet pineapple aroma with slight hints of orange - definatly not a beer aroma. The flavor is way too sweet and acidic - not a beer taste - rather like a sodapop. It has faint hints of malt but no bitterness. Very boring for a beer.
