Bottle thanks to Tipple. It pours hazy bright gold with a small white head. The aroma is musty, funky, grape must, dirt, soft stone fruits, vanilla and oak. The taste is dry, crisp, day, tart, winey, gooseberry, tangy, funk, must, vanilla, sherbet, elderflower and a touch of tannin with a drying finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Works rather well.

Tap at the Boilermaker House, Melbourne. Poured a slightly hazy straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is malt, lime citrus. The flavour is acid citrus with a light watery crisp, light mineral light salty, light fruit palate. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation. I re-read the commercial description and it sounds so much better than I tasted. Regrettably, many of these flavours simply didn’t come through for me.

On tap at Boatrocker Taproom. Pours jet black with a tan head. Aroma: intense bourbon barrel, chocolate, coffee, a little smoke. Taste: moderate sweet with a big bourbon barrel influence, also dark chocolate, mocha, liquorice, raisins, vanilla, molasses. Medium to heavy bodied, sticky, oily texture, adequate carb. Dry bitter-ish finish. Lots of barrel here but that’s fine by me
