Description
Mark and Helena Dearman set up Twisted Wheel Brew Co with their daughters Laura and Charlotte in October 2019. Located at the former Windmill Brewery site in Standish, Wigan. Relocated in Winter 2020 to Westbrook, Warrington.

They announced that they were closing towards the end of 2022, however, the former head brewer Anthony Barrett bought the brand in the beginning of 2023. But in March 2023 they couldn't use the facility any longer and plans had to be changed. Their beers were cuckoo brewed, initially at Ben's Brewery Ltd but then at C'84 Brew Co.

In 2024 it moved again to share premises with McCanns in Tenterden, Kent, under the umbrella company United Craft Beverages. An extensive range of beer is available in cask, can and keg.

440ml can. Pours jet black with a medium head. Aroma is peppermint, chocolate and a strange vegetable note. Taste has peppermint throughout with a slightly acrid vegetable and chocolate finish.

Cask at Brewery Tap, Chester – my first cask beer for 6 weeks ! Pours a cloudy golden orange with a minimal white head, but good lacing. Oranges and tangerines in the aroma. Texture in the mouth is creamy, and the flavour is mainly tangerines, with bitter hops underpinning them. Finish is more of the same. Quite nice but not overly exciting.

Cask handpull at Two Sawyers Pett Sussex. Mid red brown dark bitter colour Thin beige head. Rye malt maybe. Some spiciness. Tastes like a sweetish rye beer. Light hop on the finish. Ok temperature and condition drinkable enough. I liked the rye spiciness

On cask at The Old Hall, Sandbach. Appearance - golden amber and a little hazy. White head. Nose - orange and ripe melon. Taste - mainly orange, or sweeter like tangerine. Palate - light bodied, creamy and zesty through middle and end. Balanced bitterness. Overall - good stuff.

Keg pint @ Tapps after a 50 mile bike ride. Opaque orange appearance. Probably served a little too cold, very lightly hoppy.. feels there is some juiciness within that could be teased out were it a little warmer outside. Refreshing in the circumstances.

440ml can. Poured a hazy golden colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, zesty tropical citrus, orange, passion fruit. The flavour is moderate bitter and sweet, with a crisp, fresh, juicy citrus, mineral, dry hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Lots of flavour and body for the ABV.
