Description
Mar Sanchez started La Txika De La Cerveza in 2016. Mar produces craft beer in the Basque Country. Unfiltered, unpasteurized, with no ingredients other than water, barley malts, hops and yeast. The beer txika is a beer with low environmental impact but high on the palate! I do not have my own factory, I make it in existing artisan factories taking care of raw materials and processing.

0,33l from bottle bought from La Cadetral de la Cerveza Bilbao, drunk at Hotel room in Bilbao. BB 03/2018. dark brown colour, small tan head. smells malty sweet, bit nutty, grass, earthy. nice smell overall. medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes earthy, licorice, light tobacco, bit peppery, some caramel, hints of exotic fruits, hints of ash (when it warms up a bit). finishes lightly earthy bitter with notes of caramel, earth and hints of ash. not overly complex, but quite good style example. love the earthy bitter notes. overall good.

Bottle 33 cl Pours an opaque cloudy golden with a white head. Aroma is mainly yeast with a vague hint of citrus. Medium body, lowish carbonation, another chemical mess of yeast and phenols and a late, dry bitterness. But no aromatics whatsoever, just yeast, yeast, yeast. I wonder what the newly started Spanish brewers do to mess up anything this bad. Has this been brewed with temperature control for instance. So sad. 260616

Clear amber brown colour, tall and thick frothy tan head, good retention, heavy lacing. Aroma toasted malts, caramel, dark fruits, treacle, brown sugar. Taste medium sweet and light bitter, roasted malts, burnt caramel. Dry malty bitterness in the aftertaste, sharp spicy notes, medium boy, oily to creamy texture, soft carbonation. Okay but unbalanced, still work to do.
