473ml can. Pours a hazy red amber with a medium, foamy, short lived, beige head that laces. Spicy aroma is dominated by ginger with some cinnamon and biscuity malt. Spicy flavour also dominated by ginger with some clove and biscuity malt in a dry, bitter finish. Light to medium body with an oily to watery texture and average to soft carbonation. Very one dimensional. Too much ginger for my liking.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Chestnut colour, compact head. I had it cold, I had it warm, but all I can get is dark sugar and back-of-palate burnt sugar; good body, moderate residual sweetness, the alcohol is present. I'm missing some complexity here.

355 ml can. Pours a dark reddish brown with fizzy head that disappears quickly. Aromas of nuts, dark fruit, and toasted malts with some metallic notes. Flavors of oak, dark fruit, toasted malts and a bit of copper. A nice Wee Heavy though barrel influence is pretty subtle

355mL can, pours a deep dark with a small beige head. Aroma brings out bready malt, toffee, and a touch of oak. Flavour is full of bready caramel malt, oak, toffee, and English malt. Bready, caramely, and oaky. Bready, dry and oaky. Very good.

Bottle, courtesy of Dwayne at CBridge & Tunnel Bottleshop & Taproom. Brown with beige head. Caramel, some toffee, some dried fruit, sweetish, some alcohol. Medium bodied.

Dark brown body with a thin head. The aroma is rich - toffee, figs, light phenols and deep fruitiness. On the palate, it comes across slightly lighter than the aroma, perhaps alcohol cutting some sugars down. But it's balanced. The deep, dark malt richness comes across as refined, showcasing the long boil on golden promise, a classic technique for a wee heavy. This is rock solid wee heavy, shades of Traquair House, bringing complex malts and richness. If I was judging this, it would have to medal.

Lightly cloudy and quite pale. Bright passionfruit and orange nose, mellow tartness, light body. Refreshing. I'd argue 6% is too much for cath sour but otherwise this captures the style better than most attempts I've tried up here.

On tap at The Barley Merchant, pours a clear amber golden with a small white head. Aroma is full of doughy malt, toasted bread, buttery caramel (not diacetyl), and some gentle herbal hops. Flavour is cleaner than expected, with lots of soft doughy notes from the fresh hops, bready malt, and a hint of piney bitterness on the finish. Nice clean fresh hop beer — would've thought it more a hoppy pale ale.

473ml can. Pours a hazy orange yellow with a medium, foamy, long lasting, white head that leaves soapy curtains of lace. Sweet fruity aroma of bready pale malt, grapefruit, mango, pineapple and floral hops. Sweet flavour of bready pale malt, orange rind, earthy yeast, alcohol and piney hops in a dry, bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Not bad, but a little too boozy, even for the ABV.

Poured from the tap. Cloudy yellow with small white head. Tangerine wit, some mild floral and orange peel notes. Better than I was expecting.
