Description
Four lifelong Oregonians got together on February 13, 2009 and decided that their knowledge of locale and understanding of craft beer could be an excellent starting point for a business. Later that year Hop Valley Brewing had its debut in Springfield, Oregon, but grew too large for its 15-barrel capacity and opened a new 60-barrel brewhouse and taproom in Eugene in 2013. In July 2016 MillerCoors acquired a majority stake of Hop Valley through its Tenth and Blake craft beer and import division. Hop Valley Brewing Company will operate as a separate business unit of Tenth and Blake.

Pours dark orange with a smooth white head. Aroma of crisp malts, grassy hops, citrus, tropical fruits and grapefruit. Taste is zesty fruity, crisp malty, hoppy and grassy with notes of citrus, grapefruit and caramel. Finish is hoppy, zesty fruity and juicy with some grapefruit and citrusy notes. Pretty tasty and balanced juicy IPA.

35,5 cl bottle @ olio
Aroma has lots of hops, tropical fruits and pineapples. Also hints of grapefruit. Feels sweet. Flavour has lots of hops, grapefruit, some citrus, pineapples and distant gluey notes. Finishes somewhat dry with alcohol in the background that gets stronger towards the end of the glass. Perhaps it would be better hidden if drank even cooler.

35,5 cl bottle @ hotel room, Amsterdam
Aroma has fruity hops, peaches and caramel. Flavour has gluey tones, gooseberry bush leaves, grapefruit, caramel and tropical fruits. Also some biscuits. Finishes with lingering hops and herbal bitterness. The hop profile is not a perfect match with my taste buds – it feels bitter in a harsh way.

Bottle shared. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of light roast, chocolate and vanilla. Flavour is over moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter. A little watery in the mouthfeel. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Hazy orange colour. Aroma has some citrus, resin and caramelly malts. Flavour has some sharper, citrusy notes but overall feels too thick, resinous, caramelly.

Clear golden colour with bright white head. Strong hoppy aroma. Piney and has a touch of tropical fruit. Very bitter but the creamy, slightly oily texture makes it very palatable.

355ml bottle. Cloudy amber colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Intense citrusy and piney, hoppy aroma, lots of grapefruit, a touch of peach and mango, pine, pineapple, a sweaty touch of resin. Taste is moderately bitter, citrusy hoppy, intense mango and grapefruit notes, some orange zest, moderately sweet caramel malty basis; bitter and mineral hoppy finish. Very nice composition, paradigmatical West Coast IPA.
