Description
Four lifelong Oregonians got together on February 13, 2009 and decided that their knowledge of locale and understanding of craft beer could be an excellent starting point for a business. Later that year Hop Valley Brewing had its debut in Springfield, Oregon, but grew too large for its 15-barrel capacity and opened a new 60-barrel brewhouse and taproom in Eugene in 2013. In July 2016 MillerCoors acquired a majority stake of Hop Valley through its Tenth and Blake craft beer and import division. Hop Valley Brewing Company will operate as a separate business unit of Tenth and Blake.

Bottle at the De Molen second Tuesday tasting August 2014. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, creamy caramel. The flavour is medium bitter, light sweet with a light watery malt liqourice bitter, vanilla, light hop spice palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

On IPA day. 12 oz bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Golden color, slightly hazy. White head, not too long retention. Aroma’s: citrus (notably grapefruit), fruit, light earth. Retronasal there’s citrus, light malt sweetness. Flavor is rather bitter, with a light sweet backbone. Medium bodied. Normal carbo. Finish is bitter, somewhat dry. I’m starting to really like this Hop Valley Brewing.

Very bitter beer, with a crispy taste of floral, grassy hops. Body is just good, lets the hops stand out. Good beer.

Pleasent beer, like a beerish ice coffee with lots of vanilla. Has some notes of milk chocolate as well, but mostly coffee vanilla that has a surprising bitter aftertaste. Good beer.

Golden colour. Strong citrus and pine in the aroma and flavour. Feels quite smooth and rich. Alcohol is well hidden.

12 oz. bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Amber color, hazy. Off white head with little retention. Aroma’s: strong resin at first, mellowing a bit later, citrus (peel), light malty sweetness. Retronasal there’s hop bitterness, citruspeel, grapefruit juice, less resin. Flavor is bitter with light sweetness and light citrussy sourness. Medium bodied. Finishes somewhat dry and long lasting bitter. Lovely and very refreshing.

MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: fruity start, citrus, bitter, grapefruit, little sour, bit grassy, somewhat piny, resinous. Pours clear orange with a smooth head. Aroma of resinous hops, grass, pine, citrus and crisp malts. Taste is resinous hoppy, grassy and piney with some crisp maltiness and sweetish notes. Finish is crisp, bitter and resinous with some piney hops, herbal notes and citrus. A pretty typical, but tasty west coast IPA

65 cl bottle @ olio
Aroma is sweet and somewhat heavy with pineapples and tropical fruits. Also hints of caramel. Flavour has tropical fruits, aggressive hops, grapefruit and gooseberry bush. A bit unpleasant finish with harshly bitter herbal hops. Decent.
