Warning! Early amateur rating! Bog standard lager. It’s okay but unremarkable in every way!

Stouts III Tasting. Light haze on this pale gold beer, little white head. Light dry palate. Mild minerals. Light papery pale malt with a bare whisper of citrus hop. Meh! My 7 year old rating was fine!

(can, 33cl) Slightly unclear, pale golden colour with a blond and short frothy head. Slightly dusty pale malty aroma with herbal and slightly grassy hops. Moderately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with an almost crisp carbonation. Dry pale malt-character with a surprisingly present herbal hops profile; dry and moderately bitter and slightly sweet finish. Nice. 04.VI.12

At a tasting, thanks Dror, no head, clear intense golden colour, skunky aroma with notes of detergent, light fruity flavour with something citrusy and a little malt, quite dry, chemical aftertaste. Not good.

Bottled@Man In The Moon, Stockholm. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is quite grassy and also has some harsh rubbery notes in it. Flavour is much the same. Not very pleasant at all.

33 cl bottle. $2 @ Binny’s. I know not to expect much, but the label just won me over. Crown stamped "P 08 05 09 / E 08 05 19," meaning bottled either last May or August. A skunk right under the cap. Poured into beer’s best friend, the Sam Adams glass, it kicks up a big spongy head of foam over a clear pilsener body. After it’s breathed a little, the skunk is gone, and there’s a light malt smell, with a hint of peanut shells. Taste is fizz up front, but then suggests that it may indeed be all malt. And as I’m having this after the first lawn mowing session of the year, I’d say it’s not a bad lawnmower beer. There are hops here – more than I can say for many American beers – mostly of the noble bittering variety. Despite some lingering staleness, it finishes rather clean with a slight bitter aftertaste and a note of sour apple. Not a bad choice to finally add a patch to Africa in my Geo Stats.
