Description
In 1890 the Companhia União Fabril Portuense das Fábricas de Cerveja e Bebidas Refrigerantes (CUFP) was founded in Porto. In 1926 Super Bock beer was introduced and received a trademark in 1927. In 1975, after the Carnation Revolution in 1974, the Portuguese brewing industry was nationalised. There followed a period of restructuring of the sector. In 1977 CUFP was transformed into Unicer - União Cervejeira E.P. The 1980s marked the change of Unicer E.P. to Unicer S.A., with the company moving from the public to the private sector. In 2017 Unicer became the Super Bock Group.

Bottled(330ml). Nice clear ruby coloured, small almost no head, raspberry nose. Artificial raspberry and red currant aroma, taste is similar to kid’s medical syrup. According to the label this "beer" also contains unmalted cereals (maize), redcurrant and carrot concentrate, sweeteners (E951 and E950) and phenylalanine. What a nice chemical mixture.

(Bottle 33 cl) pours a clear, dark brown - close to black - with a reddish hue. Creamy, light brown head. Vague aroma of roasted malt. Medium-bodied, roasted maltiness with an edge of chocolate and a vague tartness lingering underneath. No real bitterness. But overall rather light, lacking some character - almost closer to a Dunkel. 070706

330ml bottle. Straw yellow. Quickly disappearing head. Very light in aroma and taste. A gainy touch in flavour with some weak spicy hints. Dry ending. Has nothing to do with bock beer. A disappointment (Oslo, 23.05.2006).

Bottle@Manchico, Madeira. Vibrant amber/orangey beer with a strong light head. The aroma is light, roasted, malty and whisky like, and the flavour is slightly roasted, chemically bitter, heavily malty and whisky like. Overall a nice beer.

Bottle@Manchico, Madeira. Reddish brown beer with a light head. The aroma is oats and the flavour is rich, oaty, sweet and milky in parts. Overall a poor thin dark beer that is like drinking a pureed breakfast cereal.

Bottled. Golden colour, small white foamish head. Aroma of malts and hops and some metallic hints. Flavour is weirdly sweet malts along with papery hoppiness and rubber. Not too pleasant.
