Description
In 1890 the Companhia União Fabril Portuense das Fábricas de Cerveja e Bebidas Refrigerantes (CUFP) was founded in Porto. In 1926 Super Bock beer was introduced and received a trademark in 1927. In 1975, after the Carnation Revolution in 1974, the Portuguese brewing industry was nationalised. There followed a period of restructuring of the sector. In 1977 CUFP was transformed into Unicer - União Cervejeira E.P. The 1980s marked the change of Unicer E.P. to Unicer S.A., with the company moving from the public to the private sector. In 2017 Unicer became the Super Bock Group.

Bottled. Hazy yellowish golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma of lemon and weak hops. Flavour is lemon, malts and some hops. Watery. Also the lemon felt pretty artifical.

(bottle) Clear golden colour with a mid-sized frothy white collapsing head. Slightly sweet grainy and corny aroma. Sweetbitter flavour, light bodied, crispy mouthfeel. Corny and grainy taste; slim and almost watery slightly bitter finish with a perfumed aftertaste. Unpleasant.

I tried this on a can on January 12, 2006. The best before date was March of 2005, so I didn’t get my hopes up.I did get surprised though!I never expected a light beer from Portugal to taste so much!I don’t know if it gained from the age or what, but I really liked this beer! Too bad they’ve stopped selling it in Sweden...7/3/8/3/14=3.5

Bottle. Pale golden beer with a thin white head. Light malt aroma. Light malt flavor with a bit of fresh grain. Easy drinking. Simple, but nothing to make it go either way.

Bottled. Clear, very pale golden with a decent white head. Malt and hay in the aroma. Same for the flavor, but there’s some light hoppiness in the flavor too. Aftertaste has bitterness and a metallic hint. Thin and somewhat oily. I think it is a pity that a beer with an 5.6% ABV tastes mostly like a LA. (060129)

Sat with a litre of this stuff sat outside of a bar in central Lisbon. Typical looking pale yellow lager, very little to distinguish it from the usual bland leaders I didn’t think it was awful but I couldn’t finish it just became a bit fed up with it.

Bottled. My first thoughts when tasting this were that it smells, tastes and looks very much like Liptons Iced Tea, in fact I’m fairly convinced that it was were it not for the fact that it is 4%, colour urine sample yellow, no head it’s only for the fact that I don’t mind Liptons Iced Tea that it has scored 2.

Bottled. I got the impression that this might be ok, it had an intereseting nose not too disimilar to other wheat beers but unfortunatly in almost every other department it rather fell apart. I barely got much of a head, looked a murky orange colour, quite a citrusy tang but with little else of note, If I hadn’t of known better I’d have said it was past it’s best, but picked up from El Cortes Ingles Lisbon on Saturday and am sure it was in date. One experience I couldn’t wait to finish
