Description

Originally the Sailerbrauerei was mentioned in a document for the first time in 1544. After a long history 1967 is considered to be the decisive point in the history of the brewery. In that year the master brewer Gerd Borges and his then wife Gertrud, née. Sailer took over the management of the brewery and made the brewery a great success. After 36 years Borges decided to sell the enterprise. Since 2003 Sailerbräu and the brand Altenmünster Brauer Biere became through the Allgäuer Brauhaus part of the Radeberger Gruppe.

This was the most expensive pils I ever bought. It wasn’t worth it. Pale yellow colour, huge white head. Some carbonation, but no lacing. Nothing impressive. Smells malty. Tastes malty and lemony, filling maybe. Still nothing impressive. Overall, an average pilsener. Well, the bottle was great looking, with a resealable plastic cork and could make someone uninformed think that they’re buying something great. I always check before buying something, so I wasn’t dissapointed much. By the way, the 2l bottle of this beer is the biggest glass beer bottle I’ve ever seen, and by far the most expensive one. Oh, and it says that it’s brewed by Brauhaus Altenmünster in Marktoberdorf. That makes 2 beers that are listed here under Privatbrauerei Franz Joseph Sailer that say that they are brewed somewhere else. It’s probably a matter of brewery changing name when this one is concerned, but the Oberdorfer Weissbier still puzzles me.

Bottle. Sour chocolate aroma. Dark brown with small head. Strong malt flavor with hints of chocolate and brown sugar. Only slight hops - a nice dunkel.

Hopfig-herber Antrunk, würzig. Frisch bitterer Mittelteil, dabei immer wieder hopfige Noten. Dezente Grasigkeit. Die Bitterkeit wird stärker, das Bier bleibt aber süffig. Frisch grasig-bitterer Abgang. Gut! 8/11/11/11/9/11

Bottled. Pale golden, brief head. Sweet and malty with clean, rounded mouthfeel. Fairly low bitterness. Fairly well made, but unadventurous.

A clear brown beer with a small beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and so is the flavor, but the body is somewhat thin.

I'm a little confused if this is the beer I had - but I think so. A hazy yellow beer with a fine head. The aroma is of honey, lemon, and malt. The flavor is of honey, malt, hay, and grass with a sligthtly bitter end.

This is from notes from a few years back. I had the "Felices Pascuas" (Happy Easter) Jubelfest. Medium/dark brown, small head. Sweet caramel and fig scented. Not bad, but not overly appearling. Smooth, slightly nutty, only a hint of sweetness in the taste. Worth buying for the bottle.
