Description
On St. Patrick’s Day 2007, Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom was unveiled to a thirsty public. Double Mountain was founded by Matt Swihart and Charlie Devereaux with a clear mission: make great beer for craft beer fans! Ours is a “brewers’ brewery”, with an uncompromising focus on beer quality. From the beginning, our goal was to make beers that we liked to drink. All of our beers are served up unfiltered and long-aged, to deliver maximum flavor and character. The beers can be very complex and assertive, but with the ultimate goal of proper balance. We aim to satisfy both the hardcore aficionados and the more casual craft beer fan, all in the same glass.

On tap at Double Mountain Woodstock, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma has some sweaty hops, some pine, and some earthiness. Flavour has a better hop expression than the nose suggested, with soft piney hops, some earthiness, and bready malt. Reasonably balanced but not quite feeling this experimental hop expression. Good overall.

On tap at Double Mountain Woodstock, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out light lacto, some wheatiness, and a touch of hay. Flavour is dry, with lots of tartness, dry wheat, and a touch of lemon. Classic Berliner style, not dominated by yogurt. Very good.

6.8/10 Appearance 6 Aroma 7 Flavor 7 Texture 6 Overall 7
On tap at Double Mountain Woodstock, pours a clear golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma has a strange fungal hop character, some earthiness, a touch of pine, and light sweatiness. Flavour is better, with more classic piney hops, some citrus, light resinous oils, and a touch of sweatiness. Reasonably good hop expression, but seems a bit suboptimal.

6.5/10 Appearance 6 Aroma 6 Flavor 7 Texture 6 Overall 7
On tap at Double Mountain Woodstock, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma has a lot of musty pear skins and generic earthiness. Flavour has much more depth, with a sort of vanilla-like character to the pears, some buttery notes (not diacetyl), and gentle crispness. Medium dry, finishing on notes of vanilla. Interesting stuff.

6.1/10 Appearance 6 Aroma 6 Flavor 6 Texture 6 Overall 6.5
On tap at Double Mountain Woodstock, pours a clear golden with a tiny head. Aroma has some gentle notes of kiwi, a bit of lemon-scented hand soap, and lightly crisp apple skinsp. Flavour is fairly dry — though certainly not bone dry — with kiwi and honeydew, and moderately crisp apple skins. Not much complexity or depth even for being 8%. It's clean and drinkable, but doesn't have much going on.
