Description
On St. Patrick’s Day 2007, Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom was unveiled to a thirsty public. Double Mountain was founded by Matt Swihart and Charlie Devereaux with a clear mission: make great beer for craft beer fans! Ours is a “brewers’ brewery”, with an uncompromising focus on beer quality. From the beginning, our goal was to make beers that we liked to drink. All of our beers are served up unfiltered and long-aged, to deliver maximum flavor and character. The beers can be very complex and assertive, but with the ultimate goal of proper balance. We aim to satisfy both the hardcore aficionados and the more casual craft beer fan, all in the same glass.

Very pale. No head. Light clean pale malt - I like the choice of pilsner here. Has a very woody, austere sort of bitterness, finishing quick.

Dark brown pour from the bottle. Thanks Erika. Slightly bitter taste with plum and some licorice. Roasted malt finish. A little sweet. I enjoyed this.

On tap at St Augustine's, pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma brings out notes of chocolate and roasted malt. Flavour brings out roasted malt, cocoa, and wood. Very complex and deep notes, without any residual sweetness. Excellent stuff.

On tap at St Augustine's, pours an opaque dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out Belgian spices, including clove, cocoa, and some subtle dark fruits. Flavour brings out notes of cocoa, Belgian spices, earthy malts, and more cocoa. Mouthfeel is very cocoa-y and spicy smooth, with a warming finish. Extremely well-balanced, with the cocoa being the most dominant note. Excellent beer.

500ml bottle picked up at PDX airport gift shop
Pours cloudy orange with a big frothy off-white head and lots of sticky lacing. Aroma is full of grapefruit, lemon zest, floral and piney. Flavors are floral, grapefruit, mild bready and pine resin, pepper, dry
Wow, I’m blown away at how good this is. Well balanced and easy drinking.

500 ml bottle. Pours a copper color with moderate head. Aromas of rubber erasers, pine, and toasted malts. Flavors of grapefruit, brown sugar, and heavy tropical fruit. Full bodied and heavy, but easy to drink. Very nice.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a clear orange amber with a medium beige head. Aroma is fairly subtle, with fruity notes, citrus hops and some bready caramel malt. Flavour is also rather restrained for a strong ale, with similar notes as on the nose - bready caramel upfront, followed by mellow floral hops, and some light fruitiness. Not the most complex, but rather nice as well.

Muddy blond color with small head. Light grassy aroma, with light cereals. Smooth mouthfeel; some cereals flavor, not exactly breadish, with hints of grassy hops, correct bitterness, some final astringency.
Too dirty to be in-style, but not too bad either.

Pour is a hazy copper with an average white head. Aroma is a sticky, dank hop with decent caramel malt back round. Flavor is again heavy on the dank hops but even more of the sweet chewy malts show up. Finish has some oily hop resin left on the tongue along with some dark bready malt. Pretty good winter warmer especially with the nice mix of oily hops and chewy malt.

Not bad, but dirty.
