Description
On St. Patrick’s Day 2007, Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom was unveiled to a thirsty public. Double Mountain was founded by Matt Swihart and Charlie Devereaux with a clear mission: make great beer for craft beer fans! Ours is a “brewers’ brewery”, with an uncompromising focus on beer quality. From the beginning, our goal was to make beers that we liked to drink. All of our beers are served up unfiltered and long-aged, to deliver maximum flavor and character. The beers can be very complex and assertive, but with the ultimate goal of proper balance. We aim to satisfy both the hardcore aficionados and the more casual craft beer fan, all in the same glass.

On tap at Bailey's, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out fresh dry hops, Belgian yeast, and a touch of honey. Flavour is nice and dry, surprisingly, given the honey - bringing out smooth dry fresh hops, dry crackery malt, and not really any honey or rye. Very well-balanced and highly drinkable. Excellent beer.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Cloudy blond color with small compact head. It has some smell of stale water. Dry and weak mouthfeel; some malt flavor with accents of hay and corn; strong bitterness, maybe a bit too strong.
Tastes like a bitter Lager, not bad, but also not exciting.

Crisp amber and copper coloured body with a bronze glow and a nice, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of bright earthy and pale hops with a strong yeast and bread note, a good amount of caramel and toffee and a hint of fruits near the end. Medium to Full-bodied; Chewy piney and floral hop notes up front with a good earthy and toffee backbone of caramel malt and a structured, defined hop finish and a good sweetness tucked with some bitterness and a very syrupy finish. Aftertaste is quite complex with sugars, malt, alcohol and a lot of hoppiness around - very nice. Overall, a well structured and complex beer with a good body and some smooth bitter flavours throughout. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Made in Oregon in Portland (PDX Terminal D), Oregon on 08-December-2013 for US$8.99 sampled just seven days later on 15-December-2013 at home in Washington.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber, small white head, some lacing. Aroma is caramel and pine. Aged. Flavor is the same, light sweet, medium bitter. This is old, but no date on it, so fuck them.

On cask at Belmont. I’m a sucker for casks. Pours a hazy copper color with a medium white head. The aroma is light Pils malt and big oranges. The flavor certainly shines with fruity citrus hops, some base Munich shows along with lingering medium bitterness. Quite good.
