Cool looking Germany style 50cl bottle pours with a clear copper body that supports a fairly tight tan head of foam. The aroma emits dirty socks, orange gummy bears, a touch of malt sweetened cranberry as well as a faint cracker sort of note well off in the background. The taste has smooth malts and sweetened cranberries to faint orange candy to start and then it gets quickly into some nice resiny hop bitterness. The bitter hops have a fruity edge as well as murmurs of dirty earthiness in the background. I like this. It’s different and tasty.

50cl bottle pours with a nearly clear copper body that has golden hues and supports a nice looking light tan head of foam. The modest aroma offers up bread dough, crackers, lime, an earthy lemon grass sort of note and sweet malts. The aroma has the hops taking a back seat to the maltiness. The taste delivers sweet mango flavored cotton candy and sweet lime hard candy sliding into doughy biscuit like malts. The hops get more resiny to midway and into the finish where the malts turn in the direction of graininess. Pretty interesting somewhat malty take on the style.

The aroma has sweet sugary malts and some various light maltiness such as Pilsner, Caramunich and maybe others. I’m getting basically zero hops in the nose. Way at the end of a deep draw is a faint sweet fruitiness. The taste starts soft briefly with sweet malts, a bit of grainy malts, some Pilsner malts and then crumbs of biscuit like maltiness. The hops hit a moment later and seem to lean toward bitter Noble like hops as well as some pine, a light floral hoppiness, then a bit citrusy and spicy too. OK, all kinds of hops seem to come through in the taste. Interesting.

50cl bottle pours with a crystal clear copper body that has thick gold hues around the edges and supports a tan head of foam that leaves behind spotty lacing. The aroma offers up slivers of sweet mango hard candy, tiny cubes of candied red apple pieces, earthy herbal notes, some grassy notes, a cool hint of basement dankness and then some biscuit to caramel maltiness that thinly rings the experience. So far I’m digging it. A few more whiffs and an interesting sort of odd faint estery slightly fusel quality is noticed. The taste has some nice earthy herbal qualities that get just a touch dank and spicy but the thin layers of malt sweetened fruity hoppiness, a bit on the tropical fruit side maybe, keep the danker hops at bay. To midway the hoppiness gets into some bitterness that helps balance out the experience. I like this take and I think trying a fresh batch on tap will create a crisper snappy more refreshing side to it that I think would be an improvement.

Oct 2024 review: On tap at Elizabeth Station, pours a hazy amber orange iwth a small off-white head. Aroma is full of big resinous hops, some pine, doughy malt, and a touch of tropical fruits. Flavour is full of chewy resinous hops, bitter pine, bready caramel malt, and a touch of doughy notes. This is much better than I recall from 2013. Resinous, piney and well-balanced. Excellent. Oct 2013 review: 500mL bottle, pours a cloudy amber orange with a small off-white head. Nose is full of piney hops, some tropical fruits, and apple. Flavour brings out piney hops, a little resin, some caramel notes, and a little bread. Begins on the sweeter side, and transitions to a dryer, hoppier finish. Definitely preferable to the regular IRA. Very solid fresh hop beer, but nothing extraordinary. 7 3 7 3 13

500 ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber with full fluffy head. Aromas of grapefruit, grass, and toasted malts. Flavors of bitter grapefruit, toast, and malts. Good carbonation though quite smooth. Nice.

500 ml bottle. Pours a mahogany color with full foamy head. Aromas of resin-y pine, oranges, and brown sugar. Somewhat light, but nice and not overly hoppy. Flavors of pink grapefruit, toasted malts, and a hint of floral. Easy to drink

500 ml bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with medium head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of lemon wax and a little floral hops. Flavors of sharp floral hops and crisp yeasty notes. More like a saison but with a clear bitter finish. Quite nice.

Bottle - Spicy pine and resinous hops. Clear copper with a huge head. Nice floral and light hop profile, well balanced with malts. Although not what I would consider a hop bomb, it is a very drinkable IPA.

500 ml bottle. Pours a yellow/gold with full head. Aromas of malts, light floral, salt, and toast. Mellow. Flavors of dough, light toasted malts, and grass. Easy to drink.
