Atlas Brewing Company
Microbrewery in Chicago, Illinois, United States 🇺🇸
Established in 2012
Closed in 2016
Description
In 2012, Atlas Brewing Company opened a brewpub on the north side of Chicago. Here, they brewed great beers, hosted some pretty epic events and made some good memories. Unfortunately, at the end of 2015, they were faced with the harsh reality that this place that meant so much to us could no longer be called Atlas Brewing Company.

Draft at Links in Wicker Park. Black body with a tan head. Alcohol is strong on the noise, some licorice. Wet, soppy black malts. Generally, bark-like licorice and alcohol aroma. Flavor is easier on the palate. Its tamed down to strong mineral black patent malts with a little bit of oomph. Nicely drying on the palate. Generally, I like how the beer is made but just not so much the aroma and flavor. Good body and mouthfeel.

6oz draft at Jerry’s Wicker Park. Oh, this was a wonderful treat. One never knows what can come out of a Black Abbey Ale but I will always try them. Bottom line: this is a perfect melding of roasted malts and light esters from a Belgian yeast. Thankfully hops take a back seat. It tasted like a roast, cocoa banana. Esters were light but definitely a mild banana flavor. This was covered in a light malt roast and unsweetened cocoa to round it off. Low bitterness, black colored beer.
