Description
Since 1989 Mad River Brewing company has been crafting award winning ales made in Humboldt County. Our most prestigious awards include four Gold Medals, four Silver Medals and one Bronze medal from the Great American Beer Festival. Two Bronze awards from the World Beer Cup and 2010 Small Brewing Company and Small Brewing Company Brewer of the Year award from the Great American Beer Festival.

Bottle shared on the RBSG bus. Dark brown pour with a moderate tan head. Heavy aroma of bourbon barrel sweetness and roast. Tastes pretty sweet with plenty of roast. Vanilla is minimal, but quite a bit of barrel influence. Sorta hot.

Draft at Kahootz. Overall, kind of bland, but the mouthfeel is amazing. Super creamy. Very lightly hopped, mostly grainy. Light golden with small head that fades.

From old tasting notes. Opaque black color. Creamy tan head. Rich roasted malt aroma of coffee and figs. Bittersweet roasted malt flavor hints at chocolate and treacle. Rich chewy malt aftertaste hints at tootsie rolls.

From old tasting notes. Cloudy yellow gold color. Creamy beige head.nspicy grapefruit peel malt nose. Pleasant dryish citrus malt flavor is quite flavorful with a complex hop character. Nice dry finish.

Bottle on RBSG Bus from Ron. Dark brown pour small but tight beige head. Robust aroma of roast malts with some vanilla. Mild boozy character, more of the dark malts, but kind of finishes fast.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt and chocolate, leading to a dry finish.
