Rum barrel aged edition of this imperial stout by Infinite Ale Works in Florida, tasted side by side with the regular. Thick and moussy, pale yellowish beige, lightly lacing head, black robe with mahogany edges. Intense aroma of coffee liqueur, clear brown rum, coconut, chocolate sauce, some wet oak wood, vanilla ice cream, glue, blackberry jam, leather, treacle, toffee. Candied sweet onset, dates, raisins, light sourish accent of concentrated blackberry juice, softish carbo, thick oily mouthfeel. Very thick, 'fat' nutty maltiness, toffeeish, very chocolatey with bittering toasted edges, long warming finish with coconut- and almond-like notes, something vaguely metallic same as in the regular version, lots of rum flavour including its alcohol heat; vanilla-ish oak wood too, but not too tannic, rather soft and sweetish in fact. Peppery hops support the toasted bitterness but sweetness keeps prevailing. Very nice and intense, even if I normally do not like rum all that much. Pleasantly surprised by this brewery, all things considered.
