Hopshackle
Microbrewery
in Market Deeping,
Lincolnshire,
England 🏴
Owned by
Bowler’s Brewery
Established in 2006
I have also tried some new ingredients in my beers one of which was a heavily peated whisky malt which came with a warning from the maltster " be careful it's very smoky !" . I added some to my Historic Porter recipe and it worked really well , every pub that had it asked for it again , one pub took 3 casks !
In 2023 Bowler's acquired the brand and recipes for Hopshackle Ales. Hopshackle’s multi-award winning real ales were produced from its brewery in Market Deeping. Upon his retirement, the previous owner wanted a ‘safe pair of hands’ to entrust the ales that had he had developed over the previous 17 years, and we are delighted to continue the Hopshackle legacy.

Ok for its age.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours cloudy red-brown with a white head. The nose is musty, earth, aged malts, dark fruits, bisto gravy granules, mustiness and dried fruits. The taste is crisp, dried fruits, sugary stuff, dried fig, brown sugar, dried banana, banana bread, fruit cake, light spice, dark fruits and a touch of alcohol warmth with a dry, lightly spiced finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. Has a bit of age on it for sure. Not bad though.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - cloudy amber with a very slim head. Nose - fruit and nut bar. Caramel biscuits too. Taste - initial fruit and biscuit. Then a bit flat and astringent. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a finish that kind of falls away. Overall - solid but not amazing.
