Established in 2016
Bombastic Brewing began in 2016. Inspired by the scale of Sierra Nevada, the “gypsy” model of Mikkeller, the business model of early Sam Adams, and the opportunity to make a positive impact in the world through craft beer, Russell Mann sold his retail beer business and set out to create an interesting craft brewery, built in a different model: Partner Brewing.
He took on two co-founders, and being thwarted from Partner Brewing by Johnny Law, Bombastic pivoted and started brewing on a 30, then 50 gallon system in a garage-style facility by the airport. Bombastic would roll open the big garage doors every Saturday to welcome the brave craft beer enthusiasts who showed up and had a great time, buying out every release.

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Black pour with a thin, fine layer of beige foam. Huckleberry jam in the aroma, followed closely by peanut butter. Taste brings them together for a full PB&J experience, only slight hints of roasty malts. Sweet, ABV masked well.

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Clear golden pour, initial high foamy head, fades to ring around the glass. Sweet grainy aroma, notes of melon and lemon. Taste is fruity, bready, melon with a mildly dry finish.

Can from Tavour: pours near black with beige head. Aroma is marshmallow, milk chocolate, nut butter. Taste is rather sweet, not too peanuty. Lots of mallow of the marsh. Fine for what it is .

16 ounce can from Tavour. Opaque dark brown pour. Frothy tan head. Sweet, smoky dark malt aroma. Flavor is rich and flavorful. Dark roasted malt, smoke, treacle, warming alcohol. Incredibly smooth for such a big beer. Steveoj has it right; it’s like a Rauchbier and a Altbier rolled up together. Maybe a bit of a Wee Heavy and a thrown in as well. At 14% ABV, this is deceptively strong. A rare rare treat and a rare style. Outstanding!

16 oz. can, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has plenty of marshmallow, a touch of coconut, and toasted malt. Flavour is fairly laid back for an impie, with gentle coconut, soft marshmallow, cocoa, and light-to-moderate sweetness. Not super complex and somewhat lacking body, but there’s pleasant flavours. Decent but quite underwhelming.

Four pack from Smokes and Suds. Aroma has notes of cocoa, chocolate, marshmallow, coconut. Taste is bittersweet and roasty with flavors like the aroma. I like that it’s not overly sweet and has a firm bitterness. Mouthfeel is velvety.

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Near black pour yields a thin, creamy beige head which slowly fizzes away. Aroma is very sweet vanilla/marshmallow and what seems like orange hard candy. Taste is dominated by the "marshmallow", very faint coconut notes. Sweet, candy like flavors with some light roasty bitterness all the way at the back. Very disappointed in this, they can do so much better.

Aroma is cinnamon out of the gate, followed by chocolate and roasty malt. Taste is bittersweet like dark chocolate and has a fairly spicy pepper heat. Highly carbonated—more than usual for an imperial stout. A little thin, but good flavors.
