Bottle @ Håntverkeren. Baclog November 2022. Unclear brownish body under a decent beige head. Aroma has dark malt, caramel, dry fruit and some toast. Taste is sweet, caramel malt, chocolate, hint of coffee and moderate bitterness. Balanced body with average aftertaste. Surprisingly nice and balanced for a dark beer at this alcohol level.

Sjøen 170923. amber color with a beige head. Aroma is yeast, fruit, malt, caramel. Flavor is yeast, fruit, malt, caramel, kveik, bread, rye, coffee. Nice beer.

Sjøen 300923. Golden-orange color with an off-white head. Aroma is fruit, malt, hop, oranges. Flavor is fruit, malt, hop, oranges, pine, grapefruit, tropical fruit, bread, spices. Nice beer.

Festival sample, Sørlandets Matfestival 2023. Almost clear amber body under a tan head. Aroma has malt, toffee, forest (bog myrtle) and some generic fruity hops. Taste is sweet malt, rye bread, bog myrtle, mild toffee and slightly spicy with a fruity hop touch. Fine body with a sweet and bitter aftertaste. Interesting and nice.

On tap at Sørlandet Matfestival. An unclear golden-orange colored beer with a small white head. The aroma sure reveals we're drinking a saison, peppery, grassy and with a light bready maltyness, as well as touch of tropical fruityness. It's medium bodied, quite bitter and dry, and a tad gentle on the carbonation. Peppery, grassy and floral flavor, with some mango hints, pine cones and a generic tropical fruit juice touch. Long finish where the pine cones and tropical fruit juice is more pronounced. Perhaps a bit bitter for a beer this dry, but nice anyway. Guess a bit more ageing will do good too, it was really fresh when served at the festival. 230707

Can, at Sørlandet Matfestival. A clear copper colored beer with a nice off-white head. Lacing. The aroma has quite a lot of coffee, with roasted malts, some caramel and a touch of dark bread. Quite fruity too. It's full too medium bodied, smoothly carbonated and semi-dry. Coffee, roasted malts and some rye bread and licorice. Piney and resiny too, and quite bitter. Long finish. An unusual beer, but I like the combination of malty and hoppy flavors. 230707

9-3-8-4-17 Can, #107-Bb01,16 months before bbd. Pours translucent dirty dark yellow, with a big creamy head receding to finger thickness. Aroma is smoked malts with fruity juniper and fruity notes of kveik, as well as bready notes toffee and heathery minerals. Full body with soft carbonation. Flavour is smoked malts with juniper, toffee and bready notes, as well as fruity notes, hay and grassy minerals. Very interesting, and highly drinkable!

Tap @ Cardinal. Unclear golden body under a small, fine lacing off-white head. Complex in aroma, malt, toffee, ripe fruit, juniper, esters and kveik. Taste has malt and some kind of generic fruitiness, hint of peaches, oranges and junipers. Fine balanced bitterness. Fine body and pleasant aftertaste. A nice and tasty kveik driven beer with a certain complexity and high drinkability.
