Hogna Brygg
Microbrewery
in Kotsøy,
Trøndelag,
Norway 🇳🇴
Associated Venue: Hogna Brygg
Established in 2016
As 2016 approached the team started looking for a suitable place to put it all together. A recently closed and emptied supermarket proved to be a healthy space to put it all together. The building would have room to grow and had refrigeration systems vital to production of quality of beer. Located in Kotsøy the brewery would need a name and an identity.
Tormod Leithe from Dynamis Designs was brought to the table. He designed a logo that had the four elements as branches around a central core. The four branches represent the four valleys around Forollhogna, the four main ingredients of beer, and the founders of the business. Respectively the core, our product, comes from the branches of dedicated people and quality ingredients.
As the branches of this design came together so did the brewery.

440ml can, #546, bough at Gulating Sirkus. Close-to-clear golden body, steady white head that laced quite well. Inviting on the nose with herbal hops added by a citric touch, promising. Refreshing taste of citrus and citrus peels, orange and grapefruits to it. A fair touch of piney moments to the finish. Medium bodied. Nice (Hotel room, Trondheim 13.09.2025).

Can from Gulating. Close to clear golden with a slightly touch of red under a small white head. Aroma has apple cider with some kind of other fruits in combination, a hint of yeast as well. Taste is refreshing fruity with some mild acidity and sweetness. Easy going and refreshing.

440ml can, #533, kindly shared by Finn. Covering off-white head remaining over a near-clear amber body, spotty lacing. Quite promising caramel malt on the nose, subdued ginger to it. Ginger spices, not overdone, and caramel malty moments to the flavour character. Rounded tail with a ginger bite. Just okay. (Sunday session at Vervet, Tromsø 07.09.2025

Can, from trade with Bergstaden. Warming, full-bodied, sweet and bitter. Piney, tropical, lightly resiny and piney. Perhaps a bit sweet and warming, but nice indeed. 747415 250906

Can. Gusher. Citrusy, lightly tropical with a gentle maltyness and a decent bitterness. Very refreshing and sure tasteful too, only lacking a bit on the body. 747414 250906
